AVA Family Update
March 8, 2026
Good afternoon AVA students and families,
I have the usual schedule, guidance, and community updates below.
Students required to do MCAS ELA and Math in-person testing will be notified this week. This mostly affects 10th graders. 9th graders will test in Science, but that's not until June and I will notify them later.
Thank you for your time.

Next Year Plans
Reminder: AVA non-seniors and families who intend to enroll back on campus next year should complete this quick Next Year Plans Survey. Ms. Nellie will follow up soon after submitting the survey about the AHS course request process.
Mass. College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) is offering summer 2026 online college courses at a discounted rate of $600 per course! This summer, they are offering courses in Precalculus (MATH 150) and US History II (HIST 114), among many others. AVA juniors who are looking to take more advanced AVA courses next year (e.g. Calculus with AVA but are in Algebra II now as a junior) are strongly encouraged to explore this option! MCLA will also be offering current eligible MA state high school juniors ONE free dual enrollment course in Fall 2026. For more information and to apply on MCLA's website, click HERE. You may also reach out directly to MCLA's admission counselor Mitch MacCauley (mitchell.mccauley@mcla.edu) with questions.
Employment Opportunity
The School-to-Career Office and the AHS Guidance Department will host an On-Site Interview Day with Electric Boat on April 8. This is an incredible option for seniors interested in entering the workforce after graduation. Please note that if a job offer is given that day, there is no obligation to take the job. Students interested in this opportunity must have an updated resume and apply on the website before their interview. If you do not currently have a resume, here is a template you can use. Please make a copy and fill in your information. Students can learn more about Electric Boat at https://ebcareers.com/
Financial Aid Night
The AHS Guidance Dept. will be holding its spring financial aid night on Wednesday, April 8th starting at 4pm. There will be help sessions for FAFSA completion, as well as presentations from MEFA and on Understanding Award Packages for families who've applied to colleges and received financial aid letters. Registration is required, so please sign up HERE. Free pizza dinner will be provided! Virtual help this night is possible; just email Ms Nellie at least a few days ahead of time.
Junior Planning Night - Final Reminder!
The AHS Guidance Dept. will be hosting on campus its annual Junior Planning Night this coming Thursday, March 12th at 6pm. AVA juniors and families are strongly encouraged to attend, as the entire AHS/AVA Guidance team will be present and speaking about all post-secondary paths. We hope to see AVA juniors and families there!
Scholarships - Deadlines are Approaching!
The Attleboro community scholarship deadlines are quickly approaching! Most scholarships are due on March 20, but some may have an earlier deadline or are to be submitted directly by the student, so please check deadlines very carefully.
All AVA college and trade-bound seniors should complete the Attleboro High School General Scholarship Application. Students must be logged into their APS email account to complete the application. This one application serves as the application to several different scholarships. Application deadline is March 20, 2026. If you experience any technical difficulties with the form, please contact Gina Spencer at gspencer@attleboroschools.com.
The Attleboro Scholarship Foundation general application, loan application and all of their individual scholarship applications are all online this year. Their general application serves multiple scholarships, and, like above, there are separate applications for certain awards. All of these can be found on the Attleboro Scholarship Foundation website. Please note, you must create an account as a first step in the process.
As always, please feel free to email me (nng@attleboroschools.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a lovely spring-weather weekend!
