O-C Homecoming Week is Coming Soon

Our Student Council has planned a terrific week of Homecoming festivities for the entire school community to enjoy! You will find posters throughout the community showing our school spirit! We have a number of competitions, both in and out of the school day, throughout the week to help highlight our O-C pride and involvement. In addition, we welcome all O-C families to the Homecoming Pep Rally at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, October 10th in the Competition Gym. That evening there will be a fun celebration with the 7-12 Knight Games, Alumni Football, an OCKD Dance Performance and Alumni Cheer/Dance, PTO Celebration, and Coronation. Thank you for your support of our school district and our O-C student council as we celebrate, "The Happiest Week on Earth!"

Analyzing the impact of A.I. misinformation

Please see this article from our Social Institute Family Newsletter:

Fake news, deepfakes, giveaway scams, and more. All are ways A.I.-generated misinformation has begun filling our feeds. Though you might assume you can identify fake material created by artificial intelligence easily, it may be harder than you think. Recently, this type of content has gotten pretty realistic and has even convinced some students that far-fetched headlines are actually true. So, what role do we play in controlling the spread of A.I.-generated misinformation online?

Students are...

  • Seeing deepfakes online and can’t tell if they’re real
  • Reading fake news spread by A.I. on social media
  • Finding tricky A.I.-made phishing emails and scams
  • Spotting false info in A.I.-written articles and reports
  • Struggling to identify A.I.-changed images and videos
  • Trying to tell A.I. vs. human-made academic research apart
  • Creating their own A.I. content for homework or extracurricular reasons
  • Using A.I. to help research interesting topics and unsure if what they read is true
