Oak Grove Celebrates Academic Growth and MRVC Momentum Award

with Assistant Superintendent, Dr. MacLean

Oak Grove R-VI School District is proud to celebrate continued growth in student achievement. This year, Oak Grove scored above the state average in third- and fourth-grade English language arts, fourth-grade mathematics, fifth-grade science, Biology, and Government. These results reflect meaningful improvement over the past two years and demonstrate that our district is moving in the right direction.

This progress is the result of a districtwide commitment to student learning. Teachers across every grade level and subject area help students read for understanding, analyze information, solve problems, apply their learning, and communicate their thinking. We are grateful for the dedication of our teachers, instructional coaches, administrators, support staff, students, and families.

Oak Grove’s two-year academic growth has earned the district the MRVC Momentum Award. This award recognizes MRVC districts that have built and sustained significant positive momentum, demonstrated measurable academic growth, and established a clear trajectory of improvement in state assessment results.

We are proud of this recognition and especially pleased to celebrate it with the teachers and staff whose daily efforts make student growth possible. Although we still have areas requiring continued attention, Oak Grove remains committed to building upon this progress and becoming one of the strongest-performing districts in our conference and surrounding area.

Oak Grove Primary & Early Childhood Center!

What an amazing start to the school year we have had at Oak Grove Primary and Early Childhood! Our students and staff have been busy learning, growing, and settling into the routines of a new school year. It has been wonderful to see our students building relationships with their teachers and classmates and becoming more comfortable in their classrooms and throughout the building.

Over the past few weeks, students have completed their i-Ready Reading and Math Diagnostic assessments, along with our beginning-of-the-year classroom assessments. These assessments provide our teachers with valuable information about each student’s current skills and help us identify areas of strength as well as areas where additional support or enrichment may be needed. Our teachers will use this information to guide instruction and make sure we are meeting the individual needs of our students.

We are also continuing to work on learning and practicing the rules, routines, and procedures of our building. These expectations help create a safe, positive, and productive environment where every child can learn. As we continue throughout September, you may hear your child talking about classroom routines, hallway expectations, playground rules, or other procedures they are learning. Thank you for reinforcing these expectations at home!

One simple way families can make a big difference in their child’s success is by talking about school each evening. Ask your child about their day, what they learned, who they played with, or something that made them happy or challenged them. Even when their response is simply, “I don’t know” or “Nothing,” your questions show them that their school life is important to you. Showing interest and having these conversations helps children feel connected, supported, and proud of their learning.

Thank you for partnering with us as we begin another wonderful school year. We are so thankful for our Oak Grove families and look forward to all the learning and growth ahead!

OGMS school year is underway!

After working through some scheduling challenges, we are proud of how well our students and staff have adapted. Their flexibility, patience, and positive attitudes have helped make the transition a success!

As we begin our RTI (Response to Intervention) schedule, we want to share more about what this time looks like for our students. RTI provides students with additional support in Math and Reading while helping them continue to grow academically.

During RTI, students may participate in targeted academic support based on their individual needs. Other students may participate in enrichment and intervention activities designed to strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and support their social development as middle school students.

We are happy to report that our students have embraced these new routines and supports. They have handled the changes with flexibility and enthusiasm, and we are excited to see the progress they continue to make over the next four weeks.

At the end of the four-week RTI cycle, students will be placed into different groups during our PRIDE time. These groups will continue to provide targeted academic support while also giving students opportunities to participate in enrichment activities and experiences that support their success both inside and outside the classroom.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your continued flexibility, support, and commitment to student success. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to celebrating all that our students will accomplish!

What a great start to the 2026–27 school year!

September has already been a strong start to the school year at Oak Grove High School, with students and staff building positive routines, embracing the Panther community, and demonstrating pride in their school. Academically, students are encouraged to take ownership of their progress by monitoring semester grades, communicating with teachers, and using available support.

The counseling department continues to provide college and career resources, including SAT/ACT preparation and upcoming College & Career Readiness Day activities. Student involvement is also thriving, with Club Fest, fall sports, and activities providing opportunities for students to build relationships and find their place at OGHS.

A major focus this year is student connectedness and belonging, reinforced through The Panther Way: “Believe You Can. Work Hard. Never Quit.” Above all, kindness continues to be an important part of what it means to be a Panther.

Looking ahead, families are reminded of upcoming early-release days on September 25, October 9, and October 22, along with Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 22 from noon to 7:00 p.m. There will be no school on October 23. Families are also encouraged to prioritize regular attendance, stay informed through the school website and social media, and maintain communication with the school when questions or needs arise.

Ultimately, the success of Oak Grove High School depends on the partnership of students, families, staff, and the community. With strong momentum, growing connections, and a shared commitment to student success, OGHS is off to an exciting start, and there is much to look forward to as the year continues. Go Panthers!
