A preview of this year’s musical performance of Once Upon a Mattress coming in 2025 From the perspective of a young musical performer also known as Lilah Koch

Looking forward into the journey ahead I realized this will not be a easy musical to perform. It’s filled with wacky dances, funny scenes, vocally challenging music, large leads, and a wonderful cast of actors that I am looking forward to working with to make the magic that is the heart and soul of

Once Upon A Mattress. Let me give you a “short” summary of the fantastical performance coming to our very own Spencer Loomis this January.

Prince Dauntless is trying to find a worthy genuine princess to be his beloved wife while his mother Queen Agrivain has other plans so he can be her little prince forever. Meanwhile, Sir Harry sets off to find a genuine princess who will suit the prince and queen so he and his beloved Lady Larken can be married. Three months later he arrives with princess Winifred who is not a typical average princess. Dauntless convinces his mother to give her a test. But what type of test? The queen puts 20 mattresses upon her bed and underneath the mattress she places a tiny pea. The problem is Winifred seems to have a endless amount of energy. Therefore, the queen has everybody do the

most complicated dance in the world at the ball that night, also known as the Spanish panic. After the dance, the only one left on their feet is Winifred. Because of this, everybody performs a song saying how wonderful Fred is. After the musical number about Fred, she is so exhausted that she

practically falls asleep in Dauntless’s arms. She is ushered upstairs and into bed... but something is keeping her awake, something lumpy in the middle of the mattress. She tries to fall asleep, but she just can’t! At 6 o’clock in the morning, everybody gathers to see if Fred is awake or not. She comes

downstairs still counting sheep! How did she stay awake? That pea was awfully small. It wasn’t the pea! It wasn’t the pea? It wasn’t the pea at all! Winifred and Dauntless can get married! And they all lived happily happily happily ever after. (I might’ve left some things out because I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone reading this.) This will be the most advanced musical I have been in so far. It’s probably too late to sign up, but I hope anyone reading this will come and support me and my fellow cast mates in January of 2025! Thanks

for reading!

P.S thank you to my wonderful directors for making my theatrical dreams come true. I think I really will live happily, happily, happily, ever after.

Diwali: the festival of lights History of Diwali Diwali: the festival of lights History of Diwali

There was once a king named Dasharat. He had a son named Ram. Ram was sent to exile by his aunt. When Ram was sent to exile his wife, Sita and his brother , Laxman both accompanied him then, the demon, Ravan abducted Sita. Ram searched everywhere with Laxman but they could not find

Sita. A few months later, Ram and Laxman arrived at Lanka, Ravan’s palace with an army of bears and monkeys. They fought. Even though Ravan had a larger army, Ram was victorious. Then Ram went back to his kingdom with

Laxman and Sita. There was a gigantic celebration. This day is known a Diwali.

How do we celebrate Diwali?

This year Diwali is celebrated on November 1st. These days Diwali is celebrated with joy. We light candles made of earthen pots called diyas. We pray to gods and goddesses. We decorate our houses with bright lights and we wear Indian traditional clothes. We also let out fireworks outside. My mom makes delicious sweets and meals that we share with friends and family.

Would you also like to celebrate Diwali now?

A History of Halloween A History of Halloween

We have celebrated Halloween for more than one thousand years. It all started with a relentless observance, Halloween became increasingly over the years it’s religious trappings but all disappeared. Today Halloween is celebrated with candy and dressing up mostly for children but adults also do and them combined is called trick or treating. Halloween is also celebrated by celebrating the loved ones that passed.

Checkout Our New Playground!!!! Checkout Our New Playground!!!!

Did you know that we got a brand new playground? The new playground has turf and a jungle gym.The turf is fake grass that absorbs water so it doesn’t get muddy! They also use it on football fields, and lots of different fields. Did you see the new swings? If you fall off the swings you won’t get hurt! Now the swings are not squeaky! After it rains it’s not muddy at all! Now the rallings on the stairs to the slide are taller and safer so we don’t fall off. The best part is the jungle gym because you can climb and do lots of other stuff. Now this is how the playground is safer and better!

Grade Level Highlight- Third Grade Grade Level Highlight- Third Grade

zoom_out_map

Third grade is one of the best grades in the elementary. One reason why is that every day the third graders have something called ‘Novel Nook’. Novel nook is a chapter book read aloud. Some of the books their reading are Charlottes Web and Swindle. Another fun thing they do is. book clubs. In book clubs they meet and share about what they read. Also they have morning meeting. But not just any morning meeting they like to play games and share different

languages. My last reason is that they have something called class jobs. Each person is assigned a new job every week. This helps them work together. Those are just some of the many reasons why third grade is so awesome.

Movie Review Corner: Harry Potter!!!!! Movie Review Corner: Harry Potter!!!!!

zoom_out_map

SPOILER ALERT: do not read this if you have not watched the Harry Potter movies!!!

Did you watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone?! If you did, did you like it? Well, I sure did! This is why I loved it. First, Harry is a really brave and kind person, Daniel Radcliffe made an amazing Harry Potter, and don’t get me started on Hermoine and Ron!

If you think about it, the story makes so much sense! Let me go through it. So first, in the beginning of the story, we see Harry, a normal 11 year old boy. And it's like he’s a boy in your everyday life, but then he finds out he’s magical and the magic feels real, not crazy. Next we meet other characters, Ron and Hermione, and they act eleven years old too! So, the beginning of the story is not too odd and that goes with the rest of the story.

Also, you can not say I’m wrong about how good they did with Voldemort’s head! For the 2000’s they did awesome, and it looks pretty real! So I think this will definitely be in my top 8 favorite movies! hahaha I love the plot twist where professor Quirrel turns out to be helping Voldemort get the stone. This movie is amazing!

Next, the fight scene is incredible, I love how the fire looks! And when Quirrel withers away, it looks like someone blew some sand everywhere and it… looks… AMAZING!!! The special effects are so cool.

Over all, Harry Potter will never grow old for me and I will love it forever!
