Welcome Letter from The Principal:

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Welcome to Hoover Elementary School! Our teachers and support staff use the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, the Responsive Classroom program, and "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" program to teach our students the skills that are required for success in school, in college, and in the workforce. Our teachers use the Morning Meeting routine to teach our students how to be “Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.” We are very proud of our “Safe, Joyful, and Challenging” learning community. We want all of our students, parents, and staff members to feel welcome in our school!

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has named Hoover Elementary School a Title I School of Distinction. Our faculty and staff will continue to empower “each child to become a productive citizen and a lifelong learner" by focusing on the following Title I Goals for 2021-2022:

  • The percentage of students in second grade meeting Benchmark on the DIBELS Reading Assessment will increase by 5 percentage points from the Beginning of the Year (BOY) to the End of the Year (EOY) test administration.
  • K-4 teachers will use iReady data to inform their planning in order to meet individual student needs resulting in 90% or more median progress toward Typical Growth on the EOY iReady reading assessment in each grade level.
  • K-4 teachers will use iReady data to inform their planning in order to meet individual student needs resulting in 90% or more median progress toward Typical Growth on the EOY iReady Math assessment in each grade level.

Our district provides Chromebook computers to all of our students. Our students use their Chromebooks to collaborate with their peers at Hoover, in other schools in our district, and in other schools around the world! They also use their Chromebooks to access Clever, the Canvas Learning Management System, and the iReady program. Students are permitted to bring their Chromebooks home with them during the evening, during weekends, and during the summer so that they can access learning programs throughout the year.

I will use a variety of tools to communicate with you during the upcoming school year (YouTube, WeVideo, Zoom, email, newsletters, etc.). Please follow me on Twitter @david_glennon #HHESRules. I also invite you to review the information that is available on the Hoover website, in the Hoover Hawk Times weekly newsletter, on the Hoover Facebook Page, and on the Hoover PTO Facebook page.

Sincerely,

David S. Glennon, Ph.D.

Principal

iReady is Still Operational During the Summer Months!

This unpredictable school year has made student summer learning needs complex. In order to address individual learning needs, Neshaminy has extended our i-Ready access into the summer for our students who just completed kindergarten through fourth grade. Using i-Ready "My Path" students will be provided with personalized instruction throughout the summer. All students can continue to access I-Ready using Clever throughout the Summer.

As a District, we are encouraging students to complete reading and math lessons on their individual i-Ready "My Path" throughout the summer. Students are encouraged to spend thirty minutes a week in both Reading and Math with a goal of completing 10 lessons in each area.

Every student that participates in i-Ready lessons this summer will be entered into a grade level raffle when they return in September as well as receive an i-Ready pencil and sticker.

In addition, this year Neshaminy continues to make the Elementary Summer Reading lists accessible through the Sora app. With Sora, you can get free eBooks and audio books to enjoy at home over the summer. Students can access Sora and the Reading Lists using the Clever and the 2021 Canvas Summer Reading Course. All students received an invitation to the Summer Reading Canvas Course during the last week of school.
