Friday 29th May
A note from Mrs Fitzsimons
Good afternoon,
What a gorgeous week we have had. In the spirit of summer, there will be no more homework, apart from Reading, for the rest of the term. Except for our P6's who are on their SEAG journey.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Mrs F
Another great day of Rugby Success
Our rugby team had their final outing of the year at Hinch on Thursday. They have been a wonderful group of boys who have played hard and behaved like true sportsmen. A final thanks to Ross for being a brilliant coach to the boys.
Ulster Rugby also wanted to share some information on their upcoming Ulster Rugby Skills Schools.
These camps are designed for experienced mini rugby players who are looking to take their game to the next level. Led by Ulster Rugby coaches, the sessions focus on developing individual skills, game awareness and tactical understanding through high-tempo, small-sided games and focused skill development.
Dates and venues below:
Omagh: 21/07/26 - 22/07/26
Dromore: 22/07/26 - 23/07/26

School Council visit Stormont
A brilliant day at Stormont with our School Council! 🏛️
The School Council visited the Parliament Building for an educational tour. They got to visit the Senate and Assembly Chambers, learned lots about the history of the building and even found out what it takes to become an MLA.
They got the chance to have their very own debate on whether school uniform should be compulsory. Some very strong arguments and future politicians in the making! 👏😊
P3 have some special visitors
A big thank you to Mrs Horner for bringing in her 4 week old puppies to meet P3. P3 were very gentle and loved having a cuddle.
Sports Day
Sports' Day is on Fri 5th June, weather permitting. Children need to be at Ballynahinch Rugby Club between 9:15 and 9:30. As they are taking part in the Colour Run straight after Sports' Day they can will need a white/ light-coloured T-shirt. They can either wear their house colour t-shirt and then pull the white one over the top for the colour run or decorate the white one with some house colours. They can also have face-paint, a bauble or socks in their house colour. Wearing their house colour is not compulsory, so they can do as little or as much as they want. Please do not feel money needs to be spent on this. We will aim to have Sports Day and the Colour Run all over by 1:00, when the children can then go home. These events will take place weather permitting. If we have to cancel, we will hold these events in school in the normal school day.
Sponsored Colour Run
If your child is taking part in the Colour Run they will need to have paid on School Money by Wed. If your child is not taking part they can leave with you after Sports Day or stay with you to watch.
Who – all classes in Spa Primary will take part.
When – Friday 5th June 2026, after Sports Day (weather permitting!) Children will go home straight after the colour run.
Why – each pupil will be given a sponsorship form and pay entry to the race to raise as much money for Spa Primary as possible from family and friends. Money raised will go towards new ICT equipment to help progress our children’s digital literacy and help to keep our resources in school up to date so that staff can provide the best ICT education as possible.
What to wear – children should come to Sports Day dressed in clothes suitable for physical activity and that you don’t mind getting colour on. White t-shirts work best for showing off the colours, so bring a white T-shirt to put over the top of your Sports Day kit or wear a white T-shirt to Sports Day.
How it will work – the colour run is going to be a sponsored, fun, non-competitive event. Children will have the opportunity to walk, jog or run a set course around the rugby pitch and vibrant coloured powders will be thrown from various stations along the way. It will cost £5 per child to enter which must be paid on School Money before Wednesday 3rd June. This will include entry to the colour run, a sachet of powder and a pair of sunglasses for eye protection which MUST be worn during the run. There will also be a raffle to gunge a teacher of your choice! Pay £1 per vote for the teachers you want to see getting covered in bright and colourful gunge! If your child wants a chance to gunge a teacher, they must bring their voting forms and money to school by Wednesday 3rd June also. Sponsor forms and money to be returned by Friday 12th June. One sponsor form per family.
Important things to note – the powders are UK Manufactured, EN71 certified, EN1223/2009 compliant (European Cosmetic Regulations), washable, biodegradable, fire and safety assessed, made with cornflour and cosmetic grade dyes, safe to sit on skin and hair without harm. For these reasons, please do not bring any of your own powder paint to the colour run. Thank you. Please do not enter the rugby clubhouse after you have taken part in the colour run. You may also want to bring towels/bin liners to protect your car interior!
