WEEK OF MAY 4, 2026
Principal's Message
It is so refreshing to see that May started off with a true official start to Spring here in the Edson area! I even managed to snag a few photos of our Pacers enjoying the sunshine during Lunch on Friday this week. It is crazy to think that there are just two more months left of school this year - the time will sure fly by quickly!
A few key dates upcoming this week...
- MONDAY: Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 🚌🚌🚌 (Give a little extra thanks to your bus driver!)
- WEDNESDAY: Hats on for Mental Health Day 🎩🎩🎩 (Be sure to wear your best hat!)
To wrap up last week, Senior Badminton Coach Mr. Shepherd went with his Assistant Coach Matt and four of our Pacers (Hayden S., Emily P., Annalise O., and Eva M.) to Badminton Provincials in Red Deer, AB. Our Pacers really showed their talents and faced tough competition!
Intermediate Mixed Doubles team Eva and Haden finished Second on the B-Side. Intermediate Girls Doubles team Emily and Annalise lost in the quarter finals on the B-Side. Fantastic work Pacers!!!
Our classes have been a buzz with activity, including divisional writing assessments in our Grade 9 English classes, preparation for upcoming PATs, and starting on the home stretch in our Diploma level and various other core classes. In our options courses, students are well into their hands on components of their courses - check out the INCREDIBLE assortment of cake decorating that our Foods 9 students did last week below.
Graduates, it is getting down to the final months of your gradating year, which means it is important to make sure you are on track or have a grasp on the credits required for graduation. Be sure to check in with an Academic Advisor if you want to check or have any questions.
The Exam Schedule for May/June (Semester 2) is formally released and is shared below. Please take note of when your Pacer has exams to wrap up the year. Grade 9's, the Part A of your English PAT will be coming up soon in May, so please review these at your earliest convenience. Please note that students are required to attend their scheduled exams and all regular classes until exam week. Best exam preparation practice includes starting early with review and connecting with your teachers if you need any additional help preparing for your exams. Don't forget, we run Study Hall every day at Lunch (with either Andersen or Bencz, depending on the day)!

This weekend, Mrs. Downing and I took our kiddos out to Hinton to check out the famous Beaver Boardwalk. I have lived in Edson for majority of my life and I am so surprised I did not know this place existed. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Hinton Area. Needless to say, all of our kiddos were exhausted on the drive home.
If you do not already follow our school's Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/pchspacers), please consider doing so as we update it regularly. Send any questions our way at (780) 723-6035 or pop by anytime - we always welcome a visit!

This past Tuesday, our Student Council hosted their Tattoo-A-Teacher fundraiser event where students paid to Tattoo their teacher in support of CEAT (Community Engagement Action Team in Edson) to support their backpack initiative for students in need.
Our incredible Pacers raised $160, and our top donating student, Jenna G., had the privilege of tattooing Principal Basaraba! A special thank you to Trustee Acorn for attending to support our cause and getting matching neck tattoos with our Principal!
Great work Pacers and teachers, your tattoos look incredible!!!

If you were in attendance, you may have seen Principal Basaraba and Assistant Principal Downing at the event giving away some swag!
