The Trojan TriumphSeptember 5, 2025

From the Principal From the Principal

It has been a great start to the school year. Students are learning and doing engaging activities in class. We have been successful in our sporting events as well. I encourage you to check your student's grades often and to contact his or her teacher if you have any questions. If you do not have access to PowerSchool, please contact the office.

Also, attendance is critical to student success. Over the last few years, we have been working on improving student attendance. As a result, students' grades and test scores have improved. Please make sure that your students are in school unless they are ill. If your student is not going to be at school, please notify the office through email at attendance.ms.hs@centerburgschools.org.

Let's make it a great year!

Brent

My name is Mikalyn Robberts. I got married in April to my husband, Dakota and we have one cat named Reese. Together we enjoy going to our alma mater, Ohio University, for marching band events of which we were both members. We also enjoy playing pickleball, attending the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey games and Reds baseball games, playing board games, and hanging out with family and friends. I also enjoy traveling, going on adventures, reading and doing puzzles.

I grew up in Columbus, OH where I attended Dublin City Schools. After high school, I attended Ohio University and majored in Foreign Language Education and Spanish. During my last quarter, I studied abroad in Spain, where I was immersed in the culture. After graduation, I taught at Millennium Community School, Grove City Christian School, and Danville High School. At Danville High School, I was a Student Council Advisor, on the PBIS committee, and I was the Color Guard Instructor for 7 years. I’m excited to start this new adventure at Centerbug! Go Trojans!

Letters of Recommendation Etiquette

1) Ask in person. *The only exception here is if the person is not within a short driving distance.

2) Provide this person with a list of activities, accomplishments, awards, future goals, etc. Whomever you ask, you should know well, however, when it comes time to sit down and write a personalized letter on your behalf, it's nice to have all of your details on paper for reference.

3) Make sure to thank him/her for their time and energy. A handwritten note is best, especially if you are asking someone that is a different generation.

4) Make copies of what they give you. Put these in a folder at home.

Cell Phone Policy Cell Phone Policy

This is a reminder that students are not permitted to have their cell phones on during the instructional day (8:16am - 2:54pm). The first time a student is caught with their cell phone, it will be taken to the office and returned at the end of the day. The second time a student is caught, the phone will be taken to the office and a parent or guardian will have to pick it up after 2:54pm. After the second offense, the phone will need to be picked up by a parent and Saturday School will be assigned to the student. If you need to contact your student, call the office and we will get a message to your student.

Trojan Time Trojan Time

This year, the Building Leadership Team has decided to implement Trojan Time. Students were given a chance to select a staff member to meet with, in a group of no more than fifteen, once a month. During this 20 minute time, students and staff will build relationships, discuss school issues, and do fun activities. Our first Trojan Time was this past Thursday. Please ask your student how it went.

Student Parking Student Parking

As we return to school this year, the parking lots will look a little different. The student parking lot has been repaved and striped. We have also added an emergency lane that connects to the Centerburg Church of Christ. This lane is only to be used in the event of an emergency situation.

Also, students, please do not park in the far south side of the main lot where the basketball hoops are. This will allow room for outside activities on the parking lot. Thank you for your consideration.
