School Counseling Services

Counselors are essential educators and mental health professionals in the school system. We are growing graduates by teaching educational, career, personal, and social development at all ages!

Personalized Counseling

In Humble ISD, we believe in a personalized approach to counseling. Each elementary student will receive one individual meeting each year with their counselor. In these meetings, students will explore their goals and aspirations, and discuss the options for their personal path in Humble ISD. Additionally, counselors will be working with students and teachers in the classroom to provide additional avenues for student success. This partnership gives Humble ISD students a unique approach to meeting their personal goals, career pathways, and setting them up for success.

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Kindergarten students moved and grooved to an Optimistic Thinking song during the September guidance lesson. Afterwards we read The Dot and students created their own masterpiece to add to the BBE Optimistic Thinking hallway display (see below). Did you see it during Open House?

Staff Circle Time

Building community is essential for students AND STAFF! During a beginning of the year Staff Circle Time, staff members participated in the "Get on The Line" challenge then paired up to share why they chose a career in education.

Hula Hoop Challenge

During our guidance lesson, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders discovered how Humpty Dumpty got back up again. Do you know how? Then students practiced their Optimistic Thinking skills while working with a group to lower their hula hoop to the ground - this task is not as easy as it may appear.

No Place for Hate

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. At the beginning of the month The Alley Theater presented Oskar and the Big Bully Battle to spread awareness of the impacts of bullying. Students learned what it means to be an UPSTANDER.

We will celebrate Unity Day on October 18th by wearing ORANGE to show our committment to kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Monday, November 13th is World Kindness Day. Students will participate in a classroom lesson that will encourage them to share ideas about how they can spread kindness in our community.

Red Ribbon Week

The Red Ribbon became a symbol for drug prevention in 1985, in response to the murder of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. Informed Families started the first county-wide Red Ribbon campaign in 1986. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Week® celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Since that time, the campaign has reached millions of U.S. children and families.

See the BBE Red Ribbon Week Schedule below for dress up days and family challenges.
