Google Class Action Lawsuit FYI

Recently, a class action lawsuit was filed against Google regarding some privacy issues for a very specific group of users. Emails were sent out informing all Google users (including our GRSD domain) informing them of this lawsuit and that they may be eligible to join the lawsuit if they qualify. The short answer for all of us is that we DO NOT qualify based on the following verbiage in the suit:

Enterprise and supervised Google Accounts for users under age 13 are not included in the Classes for the legal claims for damages for invasion of privacy and intrusion upon seclusion. Although these accounts may have been eligible to be included in the Classes certified for these legal claims, the Court granted Google’s request to exclude Enterprise accounts and supervised Google Accounts for users under age 13 from the invasion of privacy and intrusion upon seclusion Classes.

Being enterprise accounts, no students or staff are eligible to join the lawsuit. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Parker.

Upcoming Postings and Surveys

As we receive grants and budget updates, we will post for internal and external positions including leadership positions for staff to take on. Because the state is not consistent with funding, we wait until we get the funding assurance in hand before we post these positions, so unfortunately, not everything can be done at the very start of the year. For example, we still don't have our allocation for Rural School Aid, which is a big support for our district. We expect to hear about a couple of grants/allocations in the next couple weeks, so keep your eyes open for these positions as they are posted so you can take advantage of these paid opportunities.

Additionally, if you expressed interest in attending a Barr Foundation trip with the district, you will be getting a separate invitation to rank your choice of where you'd like to go this year. We have a limited amount of slots from the Barr Foundation to some places while others are more open because we are planning them ourselves. We will do our best to fulfill all requests with the slots we have, but knowing what folks are interested in will help us determine how to proceed with these inspirational and instructional site visits for the rest of the year!

If you or anyone you know wants to be a vendor...

Check out the opportunity at Littleville's Craft Fair!
