Dear Northwood Community,

I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for another great week as we head into October!

First, a big thank you goes to Michelle Fuentes and all of the volunteers who helped make our Bike Rodeo on Friday such a success. Our students had a fantastic time learning bike safety and practicing their riding skills—all thanks to the teamwork and support from our dedicated volunteers.

This week, we invite you to join us for a special community event at MacArthur High School—the Brahma Bash on Wednesday. The event will be followed by the Brahma March, and we are excited that Northwood will be part of the parade. We would love to see lots of Unicorn families there to join the fun. See below for more information.

Last week, we celebrated Attendance Awareness Week with fun dress up days that reminded students how important it is to be at school every day. It was a great way to reinforce the message that attendance matters and to celebrate the joy of learning together. Our goal is to achieve a 95% attendance rate. In order to do this, We can only have total of 18 absences for the week. Please make sure that when your child is healthy they come to school. When they are not here, they are missing out!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and involvement in our school community.

Warm regards,
Catherine Harper
Principal

We invite all students and families to join us in the cafeteria for an evening of fun as we transform pumpkins into our favorite book characters. After the event, your masterpieces will be part of a temporary "Storybook Pumpkin Patch” on display in the library for the entire school to admire.

School Lunch

We have a wonderful cafeteria that serves breakfast and lunch daily. This year meals are provided at no charge to ALL students as part of the Community Eligibility Program. Click THIS link to watch a short video about what is included on the school breakfast or lunch tray and what items are an extra charge.

If your child wants "extras" beyond the regular school tray, you need to add money to their cafeteria account by visiting schoolcafe.com or sending in a check or cash.

This includes on the first day of school. We understand that this may not be convenient, but it is necessary in order to ensure safety.

School Absences

Our goal is for all of our students to maintain outstanding attendance (at least 95%).

The best way to learn is by being present at school and on time, ready to learn at 7:25 am every day! If your child needs to be absent due to illness, please be sure to send a note to school the day they return explaining the reason for the absence. Absences for illness and medical appointments will be excused with a written note. A student can have no more than 18 absences in order to recieve credit for the course/grade level.
