Happy Pi Day, Kegonsa Families!
We had a bright and joyful Goodness Day today, celebrating kindness by wearing yellow and sunglasses! Our day ended with an inspiring assembly featuring Lyz Jaakola, an Ojibwe-Anishinaabe teaching artist, musician, and composer. It was a wonderful way to wrap up two days of fabulous weather! Earlier in the week, our 1st and 2nd graders wowed us with a fantastic music concertโbe sure to check out the performance (video below).
A quick reminder that Spring Break is March 24th-28th. Enjoy the weekend, and weโll see you next week!๐ Erin

Kegonsa Counseling Updates
Kindergarten Lesson: The Group Plan
1st Grade Lesson: Feeling Frustrated
We learned about frustration, reflected on our own frustration triggers and learned to use Slow Counting as a calming strategy
2nd Grade Lesson: Perspective Taking Practice
We wrapped up our Perspective Taking unit by practicing asking questions. Each student had to practice asking questions to their peers to gain a better understanding of othersโ perspectives.
3rd Grade Lesson: Levels of Anger
We learned about different levels of anger such as annoyed, mad and furious. Each student reflected on different triggers that might cause these different feelings. We also learned about the importance of having tools that match each one of these feelings. The tool I would use for feeling annoyed may be very different than when I feel furious.
4th Grade Lesson: Points of View
Fourth grade also wrapped up their Perspective Taking unit by doing individual practice as well. Each student had to challenge themselves to talk to five different peers about their perspective on different prompts. This skill helps us to not jump conclusions.
5th Grade Lesson: Strong Emotions
Each student spent time reflecting on which emotions they may struggle with managing, how they coping with it and what are possible consequences that could occur if they donโt cope with their strong emotions in a healthy & appropriate way.
