All Call Information All Call Information

Sunday, August 30th All Call

Good evening Morehead City Elementary School families! This is your principal, Mrs. Propst with a few reminders for the upcoming week. We had an exciting week last week and it was wonderful to see everyone. Families please continue to complete the Infinite Campus Portal Updates. This updates all of your contact information and replaces many of the annual back to school forms. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. There is also information on our website and in this week's newsletter on how to access the parent portal. This week we will have a spirit week to kick off our year to the fullest. Our theme this year is Rise Up. Dive In. Make Waves. Monday is Rise Up with Dolphin Colors Day and we encourage everyone to wear navy or teal, but you can also wear any of our former school shirts or Dolphin Dash shirts. Tuesday is Tropical Tide Day and is a Hawaiian theme. Wednesday is Dolphin Strong Day and we will focus on Zones of Regulation wearing Blue, Green, Red or Yellow. Thursday is Make Waves Day and we are wearing bright or neon colors. Friday is Dive Deep Day and we are supporting National College Colors Day by wearing college shirts. You will find more information about our spirit week in our newsletter. Just a reminder that breakfast and lunch are free. I have linked in the menus in the newsletter. Students are permitted to purchase additional snack items and there is a link to school accounts online where you can add money to the child's account. Mark your calendars for a Parent Night on September 17th from 5-6 pm. This is a night for parents to get information about our school and visit your student's classroom and meet the teachers. Parents are also invited to a PTO meeting in our cafeteria on September 11th at 8am. I will also complete volunteer training at this time. Parents thank you for your patience with our carpool and bus transportation. The first couple of weeks are always a bit longer and then we get into a good routine. To help with this, please make sure your student knows how they are traveling home each day and make any transportation changes by calling the office prior to 2:30 pm. It is also helpful to have the blue carpool tags visible and names written in large black letters. Please label your student's belongings. We currently have one lunch box in lost and found. I will try to share pictures each week and get items returned to their owners. We look forward to seeing you Monday morning when our building opens at 7:30 am. Just as a reminder we dismiss at 3pm. If you have not done so, please follow us on Facebook and join our school Remind group to stay connected. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Get involved at MES!

PTO is always looking for additional participants to help support them as they support our school. Please visit the PTO Facebook page to contact them. Here is the link to their page.

MES PTO at Camp Glenn.

If you are unsure if you are an approved volunteer, then please contact Mrs. Propst at christy.propst@carteretk12.org to verify. If you have attended training and completed the background check at another school within the last year of the new system being in place then you should be on the approved list already.

Please know you are welcome to attend field trips and school activities without the volunteer process, but being a volunteer will give you the opportunity to help with small groups during class, supervise small groups on field trips, etc.

Check out Lost & Found

I always try to keep Lost & Found under control. As a parent, I know these things do not come cheap. I make announcements a few times a week and try to remind everyone to collect their items. I will often share photos here or on Facebook of the items. You are also welcome to come in to the lobby to take a look and see if anything may belong to your child. I encourage you to put their names or initials on their belongings.

Get up and MOVE. Stay Active and Stay Healthy! Get up and MOVE. Stay Active and Stay Healthy!

Each month I share a movement challenge with staff, students and families. I just want to encourage everyone to get up and move. I used to go to Crossfit each day and try to beat my times in workouts and weights. I even competed in a few compeitions once upon a time. The older I got, the harder it was to make it to the gym each day. Busy schedules with my job and my own children. Now it is more about consistently moving and trying my best for my health.

Here is the challenge for the month. Modify to your liking, but give something a try. Do it for yourself and your family.
