Hello Summer!
Congratulations Multnomah!
Thank You Multnomah Families!
Dear Students, Families, and the Multnomah Community,
As this school year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we have shared together. It is with a heart full of gratitude that I write to thank each of you for the collaboration, dedication, and teamwork that have made Multnomah such a special place.
The academic excellence we have achieved is not the result of any one person’s efforts. It is the product of students who come to school ready to learn, families who support and encourage their children, staff members who give their all each day, and a community that believes in the power of education. Together, we have created a school culture where students are challenged, supported, and celebrated. I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished.
It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that after almost a decade of serving as the principal of our wonderful school, I will be departing at the end of this academic year. My final day will be July 17th.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of knowing some families for the entire eight years and others for just one. Yet regardless of how long our paths have crossed, every student, every family, every staff member, and every memory holds equal importance to me. The relationships built here, the successes we celebrated, the challenges we worked through together, and the countless moments of joy and growth will remain with me always.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your commitment to making Multnomah a place where children can thrive. It has been an honor to be part of your lives and to witness the growth, resilience, and achievements of our students.
I know that Multnomah will continue to flourish because of the extraordinary people who make up this community. I have every confidence that the future is bright for our students and for the school we all care so deeply about. I am delighted to introduce our new principal, Ms. Diana Kyle. With a genuine passion for education and student success, Ms. Kyle brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our school. I have complete confidence that Ms. Kyle's vision and dedication will continue to propel our school forward, building upon the strong foundation we have established together.
Thank you for the memories, the support, and the opportunity to serve as your principal. I will always cherish my time at Multnomah. Parents, if you are able, please share my video message with the students. It saddens me most that I was not able to personally share the news with them in person.
I wish each of you continued success, happiness, and fulfillment in the years ahead.
So for one last time... in partnership,
Tiffany Melgar
Principal
Ms. Esme
Saying Farewell to Ms. Esme
Ms. Esme will be leaving Multnomah effective July 2nd as she has accepted a position with the Central Intelligence Agency as a Special Agent Investigator.
Ms. Esme's journey at Multnomah began more than nine years ago as both a parent of Multnomah students and a valued staff member serving in the Community Representative role. In that position, she worked closely with families, building strong relationships and supporting the school community in countless ways. When an opportunity arose to work more directly with students, she eagerly embraced it because her passion has always been helping children.
Over the years, Ms. Esme has faithfully served as a Campus Aide, Supervision Aide, Instructional Aide, and Health Assistant. She has generously stepped in to chaperone field trips whenever parent volunteers were unavailable and is always the first person to ask, "How can I help?" Her dedication, flexibility, and commitment to our students and school community have made a lasting impact on Multnomah.
Ms. Esme and I have always joked about leaving Multnomah together. What started as a joke turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Or maybe it's just kismet.
I'm going to let you in on the worst-kept secret: she was my secret weapon for all the "fun" stuff. If I want churros for the kids, she's on the phone ordering them and somehow finding time to pick them up—even if it means skipping her lunch. If I want snow cones, she's in the cafeteria shaving ice. If I want to host a culmination on Monday, she's right there with me on Sunday making balloon columns.
I could keep going, but I know everyone here already knows her level of commitment. Her willingness to go above and beyond for our students, our staff, and our school is simply unmatched. Ms. Esme, we love you and we will miss you.
Feel free to drop off any letters and cards to Ms. Esme before she leaves. Office hours are listed below. Her final day at Multnomah again will be Thursday, July 2nd.

Summer Events
26-27 Class Assignments
All teacher assignments are tentative until Norm Day in September. As our enrollment numbers continue to fluctuate, we will not know the final class assignments for students until the week of August 3.
During the week of August 3, you will receive a letter from Multnomah with your TK–4th grade child's tentative class assignment. Please note that these assignments are temporary and may change after Norm Day, which is expected to take place around September 11. At that time, students and/or teachers may be reassigned to meet district class-size requirements.
Please do not contact the main office at this time to inquire about your child's teacher for next year. Instead, be on the lookout for the assignment letter, which will be sent during the first week of August.

The Parent Volunteer Portal is up and running and open for you to begin the application process. Remember, if you want to support us in any campus events: Fall Festival, Literacy Parade, Science Fair, Art Fest OR attend a field trip as a chaperone, you must first be a pre-approved volunteer.
If you are a returning volunteer, it's very easy. Just fill out your application.
If you are a new volunteer, we do require a TB test on file. A TB test is good for 5 years.
