Back-to-School Night for our Kindergarten to Fifth Grade Families
Back-to-School Night
Tuesday, September 8
We invite all parents and caregivers to join us for Back-to-School Night, an important opportunity to learn more about your child's classroom experience for the year. During this event, teachers will provide information about curriculum, classroom routines and procedures, communication methods, and grade-level expectations. Families will also have an opportunity to hear important schoolwide updates from the administrative team in a separate session held in the gymnasium.
To accommodate families with children in multiple grade levels, we will offer three identical presentation sessions throughout the evening. This allows parents to attend more than one classroom presentation, as well as the administrative session in the gymnasium.
Please note that this is not an open house format. The evening will consist of structured presentations that begin promptly at the scheduled times. If you miss one session, you are welcome to attend the same presentation during a later session.
Schedule
Doors Open: 5:00 p.m.
Session 1: 5:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Transition Time
Session 2: 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Transition Time
Session 3: 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.
Please plan to arrive before the start of each session, as presentations will begin promptly at 5:15 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 6:45 p.m. Attending from the beginning of the session will ensure you receive all important information. Families who are unable to attend may contact their child's teacher after the event to receive the materials and information that were shared.
We look forward to partnering with you and sharing the exciting learning experiences planned for the school year! ❤️🖤
Required Safety Information
In this section you will find several flyers and informational resources that Baltimore County Public Schools is required to share with families to promote safety and preparedness in our schools and community. We appreciate your partnership and support in helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment for all students and staff.
All Baltimore County Public Schools utilize the "I Love U Guys" Standard Response Protocols, which are included below. Our staff members receive ongoing training, and students participate in emergency drills throughout the school year so they know how to respond in the event of an emergency. We begin the year with fire drills during the first two weeks of school and will conduct an active scenario drill in November. In total, students and staff will participate in 13 safety drills throughout the school year and one of which our local Fire Department attends to provide us with safety feedback. The drill schedule is provided so that families are aware of the steps we take to practice and prepare for potential emergencies. Occasionally, fire drills will moved in the event we are experiencing inclement weather.
At Villa Cresta, we believe that every student, family member, and staff member deserves to learn and work in an environment where they feel safe, valued, respected, and heard. To support this goal, we follow the Baltimore County Public Schools Student Behavior Handbook, and our teachers work collaboratively with students to establish positive classroom expectations. Our teachers remain in communication with families and we encourage our families to review these communications so you are aware of what is happening in the classroom and schoolhouse.
If your child shares concerns about difficulties they are experiencing at school, academically or socially, we encourage you to contact your child's teacher as soon as possible. Open communication between families and school staff is essential to addressing concerns early and effectively. Our teachers, counselors, and support staff are committed to working with students and families to provide support and resolve challenges. If concerns persist or you feel additional assistance is needed, please contact the school office by phone or email. A counselor or administrator will follow up with you to provide support and work toward a resolution.
Additionally, families may complete a Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation (BHI) Reporting Form if they believe an issue is ongoing, repeated over time, and causing harm to a student. Once a BHI report is submitted, it is reviewed by school administration. An administrator will contact the family of both the student reporting the concern and the student alleged to have engaged in the behavior to notify them that an investigation will take place. Following the investigation, the outcome will be communicated in writing to the families of both students in accordance with BCPS procedures.
We look forward to partnering with you for a safe, positive, and successful school year!
