LINCOLN LEADS - EMPOWERED LINCOLN LEADS - EMPOWERED

Each month we will focus on one of our Lincoln Leads guiding principles. This month we focus on empowering students. We believe empowered students are confident, capable, and active participants in their learning. In our classrooms, students have opportunities to make choices, share their thinking, solve problems, and take responsibility for their learning.

Through Amplify CKLA, students build confidence by discussing texts, asking questions, sharing ideas, and using evidence to explain their thinking. In Bridges Math, students become problem solvers by exploring different strategies, explaining their reasoning, learning from mistakes, and working together.

Empowerment extends beyond the classroom. On the playground, students can practice making positive choices, solving conflicts, and including others. At home, families can encourage empowerment by offering choices, giving children age-appropriate responsibilities, and asking questions such as, “What do you think?” or “How could you solve this?”

Together, we can help students see that their voice matters, their thinking matters, and they are capable of making a difference.

Twin Falls School District Supplemental Levy Twin Falls School District Supplemental Levy

The Twin Falls School District is pursuing a renewal of the supplemental levy that helps support programs in our school. We encourage all community members to weigh in on this important community decision. You can find out more about the supplemental levy by visiting the TFSD webpage https://www.tfsd.org/page/tfsd-supplemental-levy-renewal

The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of $86 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions. The proposed levy replaces an existing levy that expires on June 30, 2027 and that currently costs $86 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. Therefore, if the proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is not expected to change.

If all current tax relief measures from the state remain in place, we project that the actual rate will be $65 per $100,000 taxable assessed value. This means if the levy is approved, tax rates are likely to decrease while our schools will continue to be supported with this important funding source.

During lunch, bags of candy, chips, and other additional food items are not permitted for students eating a school lunch. These items make it difficult for students to safely carry their lunch trays and

can create congestion when students are finished eating and trying to find a place to dispose of

unfinished food or containers. Students who bring a home lunch may include reasonable portions of snack items as part of their meal.

Volunteers Volunteers

We love welcoming parents and community members into our school community and deeply appreciate your willingness to share your time and talents with our students and staff! If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to the office or your student's teacher. To help us ensure a smooth and secure environment, all volunteers simply need to complete a quick background check online through the district website, and remember to stop by the office for a visitor sticker each time you arrive.

As a gentle note to keep our classrooms focused and learning environments distraction-free, while also ensuring the safety of your youngest little ones, we kindly ask that preschool-aged children stay home during your volunteer shifts. Thank you so much for your partnership in making our school a wonderful place to learn and grow!
