Greetings TVMS Families,
This past week, our students showed great focus and determination as they completed the ELA MCAP test—well done! Next week, we will continue with the Social Studies MCAP testing for 8th graders only. Testing will take place during students’ Social Studies classes from May 5th–9th. Students should continue to bring their charged Chromebook to school daily.
We were also proud to celebrate our students during last night’s Howling with Pride Night. Their talent and hard work were on full display at our enrichment fair. We were also honored to have Katie Pumphrey, Baltimore-based artist and ultramarathon open water swimmer as our keynote speaker during our National Junior Art Honor Society induction ceremony. Kudos to all who participated!
We are looking forward to our Spring Dance Showcase next week and can’t wait to cheer on our performers. We’re also excited to celebrate our incredible staff during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week next week. You can help us show our gratitude by donating through the Feed-A-Teacher link below or by sending a thoughtful note or small token of appreciation.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs. Young, Principal

Student Service Learning Update
As part of 6th and 7th grade third quarter science units, students have engaged in a Curricular Embedded Student Service Learning (SSL) experience. When students pass these courses in the third quarter, the 25 hours for SSL will be issued and will appear on the student report card. Similarly, there is a project in grade 8 social studies during the fourth quarter that will be documented this way. This is an updated process to ensure all students who have engaged in these learning experiences in middle school will be issued the hours if they pass that quarter. Students who do not pass the quarter of a course or are not enrolled in SSL embedded instruction will not receive hours. These students will have the opportunity to engage in high school courses that include SSL and/or engage in high school independent SSL projects. 75 Hours of SSL are required by MSDE for graduation and more information can be found on the HCPSS website here: https://www.hcpss.org/academics/service-learning/

Important Immunization Requirements for 2025-2026 School Year - 7th Grade Students
Effective the first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year, 1 dose of Tdap vaccine and 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) are required by the state of Maryland for all students entering grade 7. Many students may have already received these immunizations, but the Health Room may not have the updated immunization record. Please contact your student’s doctor and send or fax an updated copy of your student’s immunizations to the Health Room or schedule an appointment to have your student receive these immunizations. Our fax number is 443-973-5510. The Health Department provides immunization opportunities for kids who are not up-to-date on school-required vaccinations. Call the Health Department at 410-313-7500 for more information and to schedule a vaccination appointment for your child.
If you have further questions, please email Cheryl Harris, TVMS School Nurse, at cheryl_harris@hcpss.org.

FAMILY FILE UPDATE
Update your family information for the new school year. It is mandatory that all parents/ guardians verify and/ or update emergency information for each child each school year. Updating this information provides us with the most current emergency contact information, and also ensures that you are receiving important information and updates for HCPSS and TVMS.
Log in to HCPSS Connect, select the More Options tab on the left and then select Family File in the center column.
Outside Food Expectations
Food delivery services (i.e. Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.) are not allowed. Delivery will be refused as we do not have the capability to process this during the school day. If a parent would like to bring their child's lunch to the school, we ask that you do so prior to the start of your child's lunch shift. Parents will need to leave the lunch with our Front Office staff.
