7th Grade Weekly News, January 14

The first full week is complete. Hopefully, all students are enjoying their new schedules and getting back into the swing of things. We ended the week with an extremely successful daytime wrestling match. All 7th and 8th grade students were able to cheer on our undefeated middle school team.

The deadline on the Yearbook cover has been extended until Tuesday. If you are interested in submitting your art, please get it completed this weekend.

Each year SMS works with LifeTouch Photography to create a yearbook. This year our very own art teacher, Mrs. Ganim is working behind the scenes to make this happen. Starting next week, we will be featuring one student from each team that exemplifies positive behavior at SMS. We continue to support students focusing on the pillars of our Model Mustang.

A couple key points from the slide show:

Detentions

• No longer after school
• Will be served at 7:00 am and students need to report at that time to the main office
• If a detention is not served, they will be give a Saturday detention
• Saturday detentions will be held at the high school for 2 hours

Progressive Discipline for minor behaviors

• Students can receive 3 detentions then they will be issued a Saturday Detention
• Then students can receive 3 Saturday Detentions then they will be issued In-School Suspension
• Then students can receive 3 In-School Suspensions before out of school suspensions will be issued

**This does not include major behaviors according to the hand book.
