Welcome back Parents and Students

SeptemberNewsletterWelcome back Parents and Students

Dear Raider Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you and your family had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. I am excited to welcome our students back and begin another year of learning, growth, and new opportunities at Lake Park Audubon.

As we begin the school year, one of our greatest priorities is making sure every student feels safe, valued, challenged, supported, and connected. We want LPA to be a place where students are excited to come to school, feel a sense of belonging, and are encouraged to reach their full potential.

This year, we will continue to focus on academic excellence, student growth, responsibility and accountability, school spirit, and building a strong school community. We also believe that strong communication and partnership with families are essential to student success. Throughout the year, you can expect regular updates through newsletters, emails, and other school communications.

The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time filled with new beginnings, new goals, and new opportunities. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your 7–12 Principal and look forward to working alongside our students, families, and staff to make this a positive and successful year.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I look forward to seeing our students back in the building and making 2026–2027 a great year to be a Raider!

Attendance Attendance

If your student has an appointment or not feeling good, a parent or guardian needs to call or email.

Please call the front office @ 218-325-0754 extension 2003 or hs_attendance@lpa.k12.mn.us. Leave the student's name, grade, parent's name and reason for the student being absent.

If you are planning a family vacation, please notify the office at least 5 days in advance. This allows us time to provide your student with a vacation slip for teachers to complete with assignments and homework prior to your trip.

ParentVue ParentVue

ParentVue will allow you to check your student’s grades and attendance at any time. If you do not have access to ParentVue, please contact Becky Pederson at bpederson@lpa.k12.mn.us for an activation letter.

Lunch Accounts Lunch Accounts

This is a reminder that beginning this school year, breakfast and lunch are free for all students. The MN legislature passed the universal free meals act, making this possible. Second meals and a la carte items will be charged at regular price. According to School Board Policy 534: All a la carte items or second meal purchases are to be prepaid before meal service begins. A student with insufficient funds will not be allowed to charge a la carte items or a second meal until additional money is deposited in the student’s account. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the district office.

After School Detention After School Detention

NEW THIS YEAR: DETENTION

This year, we are implementing designated detention times to help provide consistency and accountability for students. Detention may be assigned when a student does not follow school expectations.

Detention Times:
Tuesday & Thursday from : 7:30–8:05 a.m. OR 3:08–3:40 p.m.

Parents/guardians will be notified when detention is assigned, and families are responsible for transportation. Thank you for partnering with us as we encourage responsibility, accountability, and positive choices!

Cell Phone Policy Cell Phone Policy

To help create a focused, distraction-free learning environment, all students in grades 7–12 will turn in their cell phones at the beginning of the school day.

Students will place their phone in the designated cell phone locker in their 1st-hour classroom and pick it up at the end of the day. Students arriving late or leaving early will check their phone in/out through the office.

Cell phones will remain stored throughout the entire school day, including class time, passing time, lunch, bathrooms, activities, and field trips, unless permission is specifically given by school staff.

We appreciate families partnering with us as we work to keep students focused, engaged, and connected to their learning!
