The Rhodes Ahead

August 31, 2024

The RhodesAheadAugust 31, 2024

From Mrs. Rhodes

Archbishop J. Michael Miller, in a podcast series on the The Holy See's Teaching on Catholic Schools, says, "The Holy See, through its documents and interventions, whether of the Pope or of other Vatican offices, sees in Catholic schools an enormous heritage and an indispensable instrument in carrying out the Church's mission in the third Christian millennium. Ensuring their genuinely Catholic identity is the Church's greatest challenge. Complementing the irreplaceable role of parents in ensuring the education of their children, such schools, which should be available to all , build up the community of believers, evangelize culture and serve the common good of society."

As you heard from Fr. Zarse last night, this so important to him, that he wants to meet with each family. Another way we are doing this is offering some education to parents. CPS is inviting you to a seminar on the dangers we know are present in our community (see below) and soon we will offer some sessions on Theology of the Body for parents.

In all these cases, we know that our students don't believe just what we say, but what they see we believe.

Studies show that our students decide by age 12 if they are going to stay Catholic. I tell my own children often, I want to spend eternity with you (maybe I say, I don't want to get to heaven and not have you there). In any case, I am so excited about this year ahead and the war we will wage on mediocrity.

Don't forget, we would love to have you upload a photo of your student(s) on their first day of school here by September 3: https://albums.memento.com/SHOJBacktoschool202425

CPS Parent Education Night

Part of the Catholic Parents as Stewards mission is to present an education event along with the other fun events that they sponsor. Each year, the topic varies and tries to relate to current needs such as on line safety, gaming addiction, anxiety, etc. The one pill can kill is a very real threat to our children.

If you attend, your student will be able to be out of uniform the next day. The middle school students will have their own speaker the next day - please email Mrs. Rhodes and the homeroom teacher if you do not want your student to participate.
