BAS Bond and BHS Specific Information

As you all know at this point, Brighton High School currently has a bond proposal that will be on the ballot as part of a May 5th election. This bond had the ability to impact all of the schools within the district, but has specific implications for BHS as well.

In addition, there are informational flyers in the Main Office and poster boards in the front vestibule and individuals enter the building outlining important information on the bond, as well as building specific information about what changes are proposed. If you have more questions, we recently received a BHS-specific bond board that not only outlines bond basics if you have questions or if anyone reaches out to you, but also has BHS-specific details about projects included in the bond application. The BHS-specific Bond Board can be found here.

In Dr. Outlaw's newsletter this week, he included a link to register to vote and another to request an absentee ballot. For those that are residents, you can request an absentee ballot now and begin voting absentee as early as March 26. Those voting in-person may do so on May 5th.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions and I will do the best I can to answer them for you.

We are excited to share that we will be hosting our second annual Unified Youth Sports Camp (grades JK-8) on May 5th from 5:00–7:00 pm at Brighton High School! This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate inclusion and bring students of all abilities together through fun, engaging activities.

We would greatly appreciate your support in helping us spread the word to families you may know within the community. Your assistance in sharing this information through social media or other communication channels would help ensure that as many students as possible can take part in this meaningful experience.

I have attached a flyer with a QR code attached for students and families to register. Please let us know if you have any questions. We have somewhat of a quick turnaround after break if students want to get a t-shirt. Students must register by April 13th.

Thank you for your continued support in promoting inclusive opportunities for all students!

Tutoring Options at BHS

National Honor Society's After School Tutoring is underway! If your student is in need of extra help, we encourage them to reach out to the teacher first, as they will be the best resource, but have shared this option with them as well, so please feel free to do the same. NHS students will be available to tutor students in room B-1 from 2:30-3:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tutoring is free of charge. For more information about after school tutoring or for a list of NHS students who are willing to tutor, go to https://bit.ly/BrightonNHSTutoring Please note: our after school tutor will leave at 2:45 if no students have arrived by then.

In addition to After School Tutoring, we have another tutoring resource available for our students. Every year, the BHS Counseling Office generates a list of adult tutors that can be shared with students and families as an additional option if After School Tutoring doesn't work for them for any reason. These tutors have reached out and asked to be on our tutoring list as a resource to BHS students and families. They have self-reported their qualifications. All adults who are not BAS teachers have passed a background check. It is the responsibility of the students and families to find the best tutor for them, arrange meetings, and make payment.

The 2025-26 Tutor List can be found here.

Senior Update from Mr. Grabowski and Mr. Miner - Sent 4/24

Please see the message below from Mr. Grabowski and Mr. Miner, the Grade Level Principal and Counselor for this year's Senior class:

Seniors & Families!!

Here we are. If I counted correctly, Seniors have 24 school days left and even less if they are able to opt out of exams. This is surreal for me, as I am sure it is for you! 5 weeks left until our four years together turns to the next chapter. While it feels as though time has been fleeting, there are so many things to enjoy between now and then! I have a LOT of information in this email, so please bear with me!

Senior Events

One of the attachments in this mail is the calendar of senior events. Seniors, please consider joining in every event, participating in every activity, and enjoying every day you are here! Time has flown by, but you still have some here to enjoy BHS and all of the staff & students before you take your next step! So, ENJOY everything you can!

Behavior and Graduation

Effective today and going forward, any behavioral issue that is considered major and warrants corresponding disciplinary action will jeopardize the senior’s ability to attend graduation and events. Examples of this would be possession or use of controlled substances at school or at school events, physical fights or assault, etc. While this is not an exhaustive list, I want to be very clear that we are keeping a high expectation of behavior for our seniors as we move closer and closer to graduation. Thank you for your continued support and partnership with this and if you have any questions, please let me know.

Graduation Requirements

Graduation means a lot of things, but the main component is that all of the graduation requirements have been met. This means all required credits have been earned & all required classes have been completed. PLEASE continue to support your seniors as they near graduation that they are truly staying on top of their work. We are working hard to communicate and meet with every senior so we can ensure as strong a finish as possible.

Senior All Night Party Information - Tickets and Yard Signs Now Available!

This year's Senior All Night Party will be held at BHS on June 6th, 2026 from 10pm to 4am. Doors open at 09:30pm for check-in. Tickets are $75, are all inclusive, and can be purchased here. The following message has been shared with students:

Just place your raffle tickets in the buckets in front of the prizes you would like to win and hopefully you're a lucky winner!! The evening will conclude with a hypnotist and raffle prize pick up.

You also have the option to purchase a lawn sign for your Class of 2026 Senior. Purchases can be made here. Please see the message below from the Senior All Night Party Committee:

This lawn sign is a great fundraiser for the 2026 Senior All Night Party (SANP)!! We have a FANTASTIC night planned for all our departing Seniors filled with fun, games, food, drink, and lots of raffle prizes to win!! Order yours today. Place it in your lawn to show you have a graduate this year all while you're helping raise funds for this year's SANP!!!

*These yard signs are DIFFERENT than the ones you may have seen in front of the school with students' pictures on them in years past. Those yard signs will be created for every Senior and are part of the Senior Fee.

Senior All Night Party Support - Amazon Wishlist Link Provided

As mentioned above, we will be holding the annual Senior All Night Party (SANP) on Saturday, June 6th from 10 pm to 4 am. All students will receive raffle tickets with the purchase of their ticket to the party. They can use these tickets to enter to win a wide variety of prizes, ranging from gift cards, to bedding, dorm room essentials, electronics, and more! Our SANP Raffle Committee has been hard at work gathering raffle prizes that our students will enjoy. In addition to purchasing prizes, they also rely on the donation of items to maximize the number of winners each year.

Requested donations of items can be found on the Senior All Night Party Committee's Amazon Wishlist. The link to their Amazon Wishlist can be found here. Thank you in advance for considering donating to this year's Senior All Night Party

Cap & Gown

Please make sure you get your cap and gown order finalized! If you are having your senior utilize a cap and gown from a sibling, please order the tassel and medal as these are specific to each graduating year. In addition to the medal and tassel order, please email lundya@brightonk12.com and armstrk@brightonk12.com and let them know you do NOT need a cap and gown.

Cords & Stoles

For graduation, we are only allowing students to wear their school issued GPA colored cord, if honors were earned, and National Honor Society stoles. Many clubs and organizations have their own cords and stoles they give out too, and while we love how many students are involved in the extracurriculars here, we are keeping the focus of the graduation ceremony on academic achievement. If you do have any cords or stoles from clubs or groups, you should proudly wear them at the senior walk!! We would love to see them then!!

Summa Breakfast

We are holding our Annual Summa Breakfast on June 3rd, from 8-9:30 in the BHS Cafeteria! This is to celebrate the academic achievements of our graduating seniors who have earned a GPA of 3.8 or higher. This event is invite only, so look for an email invite to this event! We look forward to seeing you there!

Mandatory Graduation Practice

Mandatory Graduation Practice is being held in the Fieldhouse at BHS on June 3rd at 10AM sharp. If students show up late, they will not be allowed to attend and will be sent home. Graduation is one of the largest events BHS puts on, and we need all the students to understand the many details of the day to make sure it runs smoothly. For students who miss this mandatory practice they will need to attend the make up practice on June 4th in the Main Office at 6AM.

Spring Senior Meeting Slides

Please see the attached for the Spring Senior Meeting Slides. There are many slides with a TON of important information. Please review it carefully and reach out with any questions.

That is it, for now! Please review all of this information carefully and if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
