Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! As parents and guardians, you play a crucial role in your child's education. Your involvement and collaboration with your child's teachers can make a significant difference in their academic and personal growth. One essential way to foster this collaboration is through parent-teacher conferences.

Mark your calendars for Oct. 29 from 3:30-7:30 p.m., and Oct. 30 from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to discuss your student's progress and connect with their teachers. More details will be shared via email in the coming weeks, and keep an eye out for additional information in the October newsletter!

Also, please consider supporting Timberland by stocking the teacher's lounge by donating snacks from Amazon here. This is a simple but meaningful way to show appreciation for our teachers. During the long days of parent-teacher conferences, having quick snacks and drinks available gives our staff the energy to stay focused and engaged with families. Your donation helps create a welcoming, supportive space for teachers, reminding them that our school community values the time and care they dedicate to our students.

Phone Policy

Please familiarize yourself with the upcoming change to District policy regarding student use of personal electronic communication devices (EPCDs). The policy, which reflects new requirements under Missouri Senate Bill 68, is expected to be adopted by the Board of Education at its meeting on Aug. 21, 2025, and will take effect on the first day of school for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Under the new policy, students will not be permitted to use or display EPCDs—including cell phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, and smart glasses—during the school day. For purposes of this policy, “school day” refers to the official start and end times designated by each school building.

The policy includes specific exceptions, allowing EPCDs to be used:

  • During emergencies
  • As required by law (e.g., for students with special education needs)
  • When authorized by a teacher or administrator in support of an educational activity

This change is designed to support a learning environment free from unnecessary distractions and to ensure compliance with state law.

In addition, the District’s Student Code of Conduct will be updated to reflect the new requirements beginning on the first day of school. Families are encouraged to review these updates and discuss expectations with their students in advance of the school year.

The Student Usage of Electronic Personal Communication Devices policy available for review on the District website. The updated code of conduct reflecting these changes can be reviewed at the following link: 2025-2026 Student Misconduct & Disciplinary Consequences.

Mr. Jake Hawks, THS Teacher

Mr. Hawks creates a positive and supportive environment in his math classroom where students feel safe to try, fail, and try again. His dedication makes math engaging – even for students who don’t normally love the subject. On top of that, he’s one of many teachers who has stepped up to teach another class during his planning hour for the long term, going above and beyond to support students and the school. Thank you for all you do, Mr. Hawks!
