We are proud to announce that Yake Elementary School is ranked #131 out of 2,633 (Top 5%) elementary schools in the state of Michigan. We are the top ranked school in the district with the second closest school being ranked #346. Meridian on Grosse Ile is ranked #502. Anderson Elementary School in Trenton is #582. Hats off to the staff, students and parents who work together to make Yake Elementary School one of the top elementary schools in the state.
We love our lunch staff!
Our Student Council continued their efforts to make sure all groups working with children at Yake Elementary School know how much they are appreciated. The initiative began with our bus drivers last month. This week they thanked our Head Cook, Kim Kim Gonzalez and our outstanding team of lunch aides. They make lunch time healthy, tasty and fun each and every day. We love our lunch staff family at Yake Elementary School!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES - NOVEMBER 21st!
We will have conferences on Thursday, November 21st from 1:00-4:00 PM and 5:00-8:00 PM. Students will have a half-day with dismissal at 12:00 PM. Conferences in the afternoon will be conducted via Google meet or telephone. Conferences in the evening are scheduled to be in-person. Parents attending in-person conferences are asked to enter and exit through the main entrance.
Each conference will be limited to ten minutes. If, after that time, you feel you need additional time, we may arrange an appointment for another conference. At conferences, we will discuss your child’s current progress and any concerns you may have. We will go over your child’s assessments and his/her report card. Our goal is to have 100% parent attendance at conferences.
Please see below for Tips to help you prepare for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Pie Day Selections!
83 Gators sold 10 or more pies and were able to select a staff member to throw a pie at the morning before Thanksgiving. 48 sold 15 or more pies and will be able to throw a pie at a staff member and Mr. Podlewski. With the 3rd place pie seller being one away from reaching Mr. Greathead, he agreed to get hit with pies from our top three pie sellers. Take a peek at the brave staff members who will be taking pies to help raise money for our PTO. Thank you to our staff members and Mr. Greathead for making this fundraiser extra fun and extra successful.

Birthday Celebrations!
Birthday Celebrations!
Every child’s birthday is important. However, we must take more care when sending birthday treats to school. In addition to pandemic related precautions, we must also consider student food allergies, student diabetes, and our national push for healthy eating. If you wish to send a prepackaged birthday treat, you will need to either send the treats in with your child in the morning or pull into one of the parent parking spots and call the office to have us come out and pick up the treats from you. Please make sure that the pre-packaged treats have the ingredients listed on the packages. Please label the treats with your child’s name and classroom teacher. Parents will not be allowed to deliver treats into their child’s classroom.
Visitor's & Volunteers!
As a reminder, no outside visitors will be allowed in our school unless they are volunteering or have an appointment. Any parent or visitor wishing to drop off or pick up a child, drop off a backpack or a lunch, etc. will need to call our office at (734)692-2230 for assistance. Staff members will welcome student in, escort students out and/or pick up backpacks, lunches and/or similar items as needed.
Yes, volunteers are welcome. However, they must be i-chat approved and the application is due one week prior to volunteering. To assess an IChat form, (Click here) and then click on the IChat form.
If parents wish to pick students up prior to dismissal, our office must be called before 3:20 p.m. Children will not be walked out to parents after 3:20 p.m.
