Week 11
October 20-24, 2025
Message from Ms. Melgar
Fall Festival
Our Annual Fall Festival was an amazing experience and the best part was the community coming together. Thank you parents for pulling through and keeping this tradition alive! All the money raised will go right back to the students as we use the funds to support our PBIS of purchasing pizza, popcorn, and ice cream for the students. We also use it to celebrate milestone attendance and stock our Multnomah store. Parents helped out via donations of food, games, or time. Parents also supported by attending the event. Thank you!
Emergency Drill
Thank you to the parents who were able to join us in checking out your students during our shake out participation. This allowed our staff to practice the check out and reunion process. After the drill the teachers debriefed with the students about the glows and grows of the process. Additionally, all staff member filled out a reflection form on the event so that we can continue to refine and improve our implementation. Being prepared is a great way to ensure calm and rapid responses during a real emergency.
The green check means every student is accounted for and safe!
The red X means someone is missing or injured. Help is on their way!
Red Ribbon Week
Ms. Gutierrez and Mrs. Ortega have curated some lessons and activities for the teachers to do with the students during Red Ribbon Week. Be sure to ask your scholars about them.
Red Ribbon Week is a special time when we talk to our students about the importance of making healthy and safe choices. It’s the largest drug prevention campaign in the United States, and it gives us a chance to help our children understand how to say "no" to harmful substances and "yes" to things that help them grow strong and stay safe.
At our schooll, we keep things age-appropriate by focusing on:
Making healthy choices
Standing up to peer pressure
Being kind to ourselves and others
Learning how to take care of our bodies and minds
The red ribbon is a symbol of our commitment to living drug-free lives, and during this week, we do fun activities, wear themed outfits, and have conversations that help build confidence and smart decision-making skills in our children.
Together, we’re planting the seeds of a safe and healthy future for our kids! And, just for fun, we added a spirit week to dress up AND say no to drugs!

iReady Challenge
We are looking to see if students are completing the lessons with a score of 70% or better. My Assignments on the platform are lessons teachers specifically selected and assigned to your student to supplement and reinforce what they are learning in the classroom. If they are working on iReady at home, please have them do it next to you so you can see what types of stories and math lessons your students are doing at school. Per the maker of iReady, academic success can be supported by usage of the program if there's an average of 2 lessons completed per subject area, per week with a 70% of higher passage rate. Let's get onboard!
