Argyle ISD School Board Briefs
Dear Eagle Staff & Community,
In an effort to communicate district business as it relates to our monthly board meetings, we will be sending School Board Briefs to our community stakeholders each month following the regular meeting. We hope this provides you with valuable information on the agenda and action items to be a well-informed Argyle ISD community member.
Last night, September 18, we held two meetings. At 5:00 p.m., our Board of Trustees developed the charge and expectations for the upcoming Bond & Growth Planning Committee that kicks off in late October. In the near future, AISD will be creating a website for our community that provides up-to-date information on the Bond & Growth Planning Committee.
The open portion of the regular board meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. We began our meeting with a group of special guests from Argyle South Elementary, as they led us in our Pledges to the Flags and Moment of Silence. What a wonderful start to the evening! Our AHS Theatre group presented our Board of Trustees with T-shirts for their upcoming musical, Cinderella. During the recognition portion of the meeting, the Argyle Education Foundation presented AISD with a donation check for $71,200. Thank you, AEF for your continued support!
During the Consent portion of the Board Agenda, the board approved a series of items, many of which are related to finance & operations. In regards to board policy, one item in particular was to revise Board Policy EIC (LOCAL) in order to be aligned with the adopted student handbook for grade weighting in dual credit courses. A legislative impact requiring board approval related to HB 3033 and the board adopted the 10 designated non-business days for Public Information Requests. Those dates will soon be updated and posted on the Open Records Website. A full list of consent items can be viewed in the released agenda.
During the Information portion of the Board Agenda, the Board received updates on Construction and the Superintendent’s Report. Ms. Liz Stewart presented information on an upcoming request for the purchase of new band uniforms.
Finally, during the Discussion and Action portion of the Board Agenda, the Board moved to approve the employee computer refresh, authority to add additional architectural firms, and CW (LOCAL) board policy relating to a process for naming facilities in Argyle ISD. All three action items were approved 7-0 by the Board of Trustees.
In the event you were not able to join us online or in person, you may view a recording of the board meeting here. Our October regular board meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2023. The open portion of the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. October is National Principals Month and we look forward to celebrating our wonderfully talented AISD principals during the Recognition portion of the October meeting.
Should you have any questions regarding any portion of the board meeting, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
