BECS Family Update
One of my favorite parts of preschool is getting a glimpse of what matters most to our children. During my classroom read-alouds, I’ve been asking students what they love about Burbank. Playing with friends, being outside, and spending time with their teachers come up again and again. Their answers are a reminder of how much those everyday experiences mean—and how much of feeling ready to learn begins with feeling happy to be here.
Small moments give our students big opportunities to practice being safe and kind. Inviting someone to play, asking for help, or taking a calming breath are all ways children are learning to care for themselves and each other.

After engaging the community through an extensive master planning process and extending the timing of an operating levy by an additional year, the Board of Education will return to voters on the November 3, 2026 ballot with a combined operating levy and bond issue.
The $273.5 million bond issue would fund the second phase of the master plan, while the 4.9-mill operating levy would provide funding to maintain the district’s current educational programs, services and daily operations. The ballot issue for the bond issue will be listed at 4.84 mills; however, it would be collected at a rate of an estimated 2.25 mills above current collections. Combined, the measures would result in an estimated increase of approximately $1,250 per year (or $105 per month) for a home valued at $500,000 according to the Franklin County Auditor.
