Peterson's Message- K3 Director
Greetings MCP3 Team!
This Monday is a No School day for staff and scholars. It is Sharpen the Saw day!!! In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, "Sharpen the Saw" is Habit 7 and means investing in self-renewal and balance across four dimensions: physical, mental, social/emotional, and spiritual. It involves regularly caring for yourself so you can preserve and enhance your greatest asset—you—which allows for greater productivity and capacity to handle life's challenges. Please remember to take some time for yourself. You matter!
With all the Love and Respect,
Peterson

Attendance Matters
At MCP, we know that attendance is directly tied to scholar outcomes:
• Scholars who miss fewer than nine days in a school year are significantly more likely to stay
engaged and on track academically.
• Even small increases in attendance lead to meaningful academic gains.
• Consistent attendance supports strong relationships, confidence, and a sense of belonging within
the school community.
• 90–95% attendance is a key indicator of on-track progression toward high school graduation and
post-secondary success.
• Early attendance habits matter — scholars who miss school in early grades are less likely to be
reading on grade level by 3rd grade.
• By middle school, chronic absence becomes a strong predictor of high school dropout risk.
• Missing just two days per month adds up to nearly a full month of lost learning over the course of
the year.
Monthly Attendance Incentives at MCP3
- Each month we will celebrate the class with the overall highest attendance percentage with a special treat from Ms. Peterson and Ms. Perine and they will be awarded the traveling trophy oar to hang in their room!
- Each month individual scholars will be recognized and celebrated at assembly for having 100% attendance, which includes being on time! These scholars will be rewarded with a certificate and special shout out at assembly and their names recognized in our newsletter! These scholars will also get their names entered into a raffle to pick out of the BIG PRIZE BIN!
World Series of Attendance October Challenge
Let's Play BALLLLLL!!!!!!!
This month, we will be celebrating attendance with a special fun baseball theme!
- Daily attendance will be our "innings" and will be tracked with a visual in the main foyer.
- Daily homeroom average attendance will correlate to the number of "hits" your class earns as follows (80%=8 hits, 90%=9 hits, 100%= 10 hits).
- Daily "hits" will be totaled each week to make your classroom team's score!
- The class with the highest score at the end of the month will be our World Series Champions!
I can't wait to see the hype and energy and the number of "hits" our teams will score this month!
Save the Dates for Family Engagement
This year we will be having quarterly family engagement opportunities! This is an excellent way to connect with our families and scholars in unique and fun ways!
Quarter 1: Friday 10/16, 9:30-11:00am Fall Fest
Quarter 2: Thursday 1/14, 4:00-5:30pm Family Fun Night
**The 1.5 Mandatory Hrs for all staff on 1/14 will be used from the December PD.
Operations Reminders & Updates W/ Ms. Perine
Meal Service Garbage and Returning Service Equipment
Please be mindful to throw away all trash from meal service into a garbage can (food wrappers, paper towels, foil from bin coverings, etc.) There has been trash that is being left on the carts and making its way back up to the kitchen and our kitchen staff should not be responsible for throwing away garbage from us. Let's be sure to send our service equipment back up to the kitchen in an orderly and trash free manner.
October Lunch Duty- Harvell
ClassDojo
We want to ensure we have 100% of families connected on Dojo! Here is where we are currently at:
- Panthers- 95%
- Tigers- 100%
- Antelopes- 100%
- Bulldogs- 100%
- Golden Eagles- 100%
**Be sure to edit your class if you have scholars that are unenrolled and add students to your class when you get new scholars!
**Friday means it is time for your classroom dojo incentive! Scholars should be rewarded for their good behavior from the week. Remember- not everybody gets a cookie. So if scholars have not earned the prizes/incentives that's ok. They can try again next week. Be specific with which classroom expectation and rule they need to work on. If you need support with setting up your classroom dojo incentive please reach out!
Field Trips🚌
Quarter 1 Field Trips are scheduled and on the calendar.
**Make sure to reference the MCP calendar when scheduling field trips.
**Classrooms may wish to buddy up with other rooms for Field Trips.
**Once Field Trip is scheduled- staff should fill out the Field Trip form on the MCP Launch Page.
**Classrooms have a $2,600 budget for the year for Field Trips.
