Y5/6 Cross Country
I hope everyone made the most of the long weekend. We hit the ground running this week quite literally with the Y5/6 Cross Country at the Domain, with the children putting in a great performance all round.
Congratulations to our place-getters and qualifiers for the Zones Competition, which takes place in a couple of weeks time. We look forward to cheering them on!
Staffing Update
Looking ahead, we have a significant staffing change to announce as Aone Laufili, Deputy Principal, will be moving on to a new Senior Leadership role in Term 3.
We will be extremely sad to lose Aone from the MENPS whanau, but we're also excited for the career opportunity this represents for her. Sometimes, professional growth brings change and new challenges, and I want to personally acknowledge her significant and longstanding contribution to our school, and congratulate her on the appointment. Fa'amālō atu!
This means recruitment will be underway soon for her successor in the key Deputy Principal role, with an expectation at this stage that an appointment will be confirmed for Term 4 this year. We will keep you updated when we have further information to share.
Parent Conferences
Term 2 Parent Conference Bookings are now available to book online. Instructions on how to book can be found on the HERO app. Please also note we have an early pickup on Thursday, 25 June (2pm). SKiDS is available if required.
Cultural Festival
A reminder that the big PTA Cultural Festival is coming up soon (21 June), so please see below for details and make sure you volunteer if you are able to help. This event is all about community, so we would love to have you pitch in on the day and help represent the diverse cultures represented at our school.
Please save the date and get in touch with our PTA volunteers to get involved if you can help in any way.

MENPS Walking School Bus
We are getting our MENPS Walking School Bus back up and running and in light of recent petrol prices think this is the right time for it. We have 2 routes that we will be launching. The ‘Henley Route’ and ‘Prospect Route’. Please click on the link below to find out more information about them and to sign your child/ren up for them. Initially they will run in the mornings but we are hoping to extend to the afternoon buses if we can have more parent volunteers.
If you are able to help be a parent supervisor for either of these routes or would like to start one around your area, please email aonel@mteden.school.nz We are looking to expand the routes we have but it all depends on the parent volunteers we can get. Thank you to those who have helped get these walking buses up and running.

🎭 Cultural Performance Showcase – Calling All Performers!
As part of our Cultural Festival, we invite students, teachers, staff, and families to share a performance that celebrates their cultural heritage.
Whether it’s music, dance, singing, storytelling, martial arts, poetry, traditional dress, or another cultural expression, we’d love to showcase the diversity of our school community in a special performance programme in the hall.
Interested in performing?
Please email Jane at jiahui.liu@acetcommunity.org.nz with:
* Who will be performing (your child, yourself, or together)
* A brief description of the performance
* The cultural background or tradition being represented
* How much performance time is needed
* Any setup requirements, equipment, props, instruments, or audio needs
* The total time required, including setup and pack-down
Performance times will be confirmed closer to the festival date and will depend on the number of participants. The information you provide will help us create the performance schedule and determine the order of performances.
We encourage performers of all ages and experience levels to participate. This is a wonderful opportunity to share traditions, stories, and talents from around the world with our school community.
We look forward to celebrating the many cultures that make our school so special!
Uniform Donations – We Need Your Help!
