MIDDLE SCHOOL SOUTH
January 9, 2025
This Week at GMSS
From the Desk of Ms. Murdock
Good afternoon GMSS families,
Despite the weather to kick off the second semester has been wonderful. It was great to see our students back and believe it or not we see growth after a break! We have a lot to do in the spring semester and this growth will continue!
Our second round of MAP testing is coming soon. These test are important to gather real time data on growth of students and important for making appropriate scheduling decisions for students next year.
We had our grade level community meetings on Friday! We celebrated the growth we have seen and discussed goals and resets for the next quarter. Proud of our students!
Stay safe and warm
Robin Murdock
From the PTO

Welcome back South!!
We are very excited to begin the third quarter and get things rolling. As Q3 begins, we wanted to share a new focus that we're adding in...tardies to school. We have been monitoring and talking with students, personally, about tardiness to school and its realities and challenges. So we wanted to put a quick blurb in this first newsletter of the new year sharing that we are going to begin officially tracking tardies to school with diligence.
Students are officially marked tardy if they arrive to school [without a medical excusal] any time after 9:05. Similar to being tardy to class, tardiness to school is something which we tremendously value -research supports that any loss of instructional time puts students at a deficit.
As always, we appreciate any form of communication regarding absences and hope that those continue to come in!
Thank you all - here's to a wonderful second semester!
