A Message from Principal Paul

Dear Dolphin Families,

We have an exciting week ahead at Marathon Middle High School, with opportunities for students to demonstrate their academic skills, celebrate their achievements, and enjoy a special theatrical performance!

PSAT/NMSQT – Tuesday, October 20

This Tuesday, sophomores, juniors, and (seniors who need concordant scores to meet graduation testing requirements) will take the PSAT/NMSQT.

This assessment is important for several reasons:

  • Scholarship Opportunities: The PSAT/NMSQT serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Eligible juniors who earn qualifying scores may be considered for recognition and scholarship opportunities.

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Opportunities: Results help identify students who may be ready for the challenge of AP coursework.

  • SAT Preparation: Individual score reports provide valuable feedback in specific content areas, helping students identify strengths and areas for improvement as they prepare for the SAT.

Please help your student arrive on time, well rested, and ready to do their best! To learn more, visit the College Board PSAT/NMSQT website.

Dolphins of Distinction Assemblies – Thursday, October 22

On Thursday, we will proudly recognize students for their first-quarter academic achievements during our Dolphins of Distinction assemblies. We look forward to celebrating their hard work, dedication, and success! Parents and families are welcome to attend.

Assembly Schedule:

  • 8:30 AM: 9th & 10th Grade in the media center

  • 9:25 AM: 11th & 12th Grade in the media center

  • 10:15 AM: 8th Grade in the gym

  • 1:00 PM: 7th Grade in the gym

  • 1:45 PM: 6th Grade in the gym

Special Performance of Dear Evan Hansen – Friday, October 23

On Friday, our high school students will have the opportunity to attend a special school-day performance of the award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen, presented by the Key Players.

This production offers students an opportunity to explore themes of empathy, belonging, mental health, and the importance of human connection. We hope the performance will inspire meaningful conversations and greater understanding of challenges many young people face today.

Information and opt-out forms were sent home with students last Friday. Parents who do not wish for their student to attend must sign and return the opt-out form by Wednesday, October 21. Alternative arrangements will be provided for students who opt out.

Thank you, Dolphin families, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are making great things happen at MHS!

Have a FINtastic week, and as always, 💙💛 GO FINS!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Paul
