Barron Pioneers 2026-27

PROUD PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Dear Barron Families,
We have officially completed Week 10 of the school year and have begun our second nine weeks of instruction! We are proud of the learning, growth, and accomplishments our students have demonstrated during these first several weeks.
As we move forward, our commitment remains focused on providing high-quality instruction, strengthening academic achievement, and ensuring every Pioneer feels supported, challenged, and connected to our school community.
Our teachers have been working collaboratively to review student performance, analyze assessment data, and plan targeted interventions to support every learner. Across our campus, students are strengthening their reading, writing, and mathematical thinking through engaging instructional experiences.
In mathematics, students are using manipulatives, dry-erase boards, and the Read, Draw, Write (RDW) strategy to solve problems and explain their mathematical reasoning. In reading, students are learning to use context clues, identify the Who? and What? in texts, and develop their understanding through discussions and writing. We continue to emphasize academic vocabulary, student participation, and opportunities for students to explain their thinking. Our goal is to ensure that every student experiences growth and develops confidence as a learner.
Next week, our students in 3rd through 5th grade will begin their first interim assessments.
These assessments provide valuable information about students' academic progress and help teachers identify areas of strength and opportunities for additional support. We encourage families to help students prepare by ensuring they:
Attend school every day and arrive on time.
Get a good night's rest.
Eat a healthy breakfast.
Approach assessments with confidence and a positive attitude.
We wish all our students the very best as they demonstrate what they have learned!
We are excited to continue creating opportunities for families to connect with our school community.
Our annual Reading Under the Stars event is approaching this week on Thursday, October 22nd from 5:00-7:00. We look forward to bringing families together to celebrate literacy and the joy of reading.
Families will have an opportunity to participate in physical education activities alongside their children. We look forward to promoting health, wellness, and family connections on Friday, October 23rd during PE times.
We are preparing for our Thanksgiving luncheons during the first week of November. We look forward to welcoming families to share a special meal with their children. Please watch for additional information regarding schedules, dates, and participation.
Communication between home and school is essential to student success.
We encourage all families to activate and regularly check Rooms, our school communication platform. Through Rooms, families can receive important announcements, communicate with teachers, and stay informed about classroom activities and upcoming campus events. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child's learning.
Every day counts for ALL Pioneers, from PK3 through 5th grade!
Consistent attendance is essential to student success. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for students to learn, grow, build relationships, and strengthen their academic skills.
Our campus attendance goal is 95%, and we are currently averaging 94.60%. We are so close to reaching our goal, but we need the continued commitment and support of every Barron family to get there! We ask our families to make daily attendance a priority, schedule appointments outside school hours whenever possible, and ensure students arrive on time and ready to learn. Whether your child is in PK3, Kindergarten, or 5th grade, every student matters, every day matters, and every minute of instruction counts! Together, we can reach and exceed our 95% attendance goal. Thank you for helping us make attendance a priority and giving every Pioneer the opportunity to succeed! Let's show our Pioneer Pride by showing up every day! Attendance Matters – Every Day Counts!
As we continue through the second nine weeks, our campus remains focused on:
Academic growth for every student.
Strong reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
Student engagement, collaboration, and meaningful discussions.
Monitoring student progress and providing targeted support.
Building positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging.
Strengthening partnerships with our families.
Thank you, Barron families, for your continued trust, encouragement, and partnership. Together, we are building a school community where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Let's continue working together toward another successful nine weeks!
Right Here. Right Now.
Every day matters. Every lesson matters. Every Pioneer matters.

Lectura Bajo las Estrellas (Reading Under the Stars)
Ms. Vasquez, Directora
