September things you need to know
A Message From the PTA
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Families,
The new school year is off to a great start! Sunrise Elementary has wonderful staff, parents and students. The PTA writes this newsletter each month to keep you informed and connected to events and information, as well as opportunities to volunteer.
Here are some important dates and ways to be involved at Sunrise:
- Sept 16th @ 9:15 am PTA Meeting - In this meeting we will approve the 2025 budget and plan the next few months. You do not have to be a member of the PTA to attend, and ideas are welcome!
- Sept 17th is Picture Day – We need volunteers to help picture day run smoothly. Sign up for a time slot HERE.
- Sept 24th - PTA Birthday Table- Students with birthdays in August and September can pick up a treat as they go outside for lunch recess.
- Sept 26th is Teacher Prep Day- No school
- Oct 2rd & 3rd- Parent Teacher Conferences
- Room Parents Needed - Teachers love to have an committed volunteer each year to help with class parties and organizing volunteers. This requires about 2 hours per month and is a great way to build a relationship with your student's classroom. Sign up HERE and receive a free Sunrise Elementary t-shirt for helping.

The Counselor's Corner
Last week the Counseling Department presented our UNO introduction to the student body with some new things we are trying this year. We thought it would be fun to share with you too!
DO UNO we have a lunchroom reward system called Chips and Salsa. We have set up a bunch of bowls on the wall in the lunchroom and each class has their name on a bowl. When a class comes into the lunchroom respectfully and they show they are following the rules, they earn chips to go in their bowls. At the end of the month, the class who has earned the most chips in their bowl earns a chips and salsa party with the counseling team.
DO UNO we are working hard on teaching kindness in our school. We have sent a kindness in the classroom 101 video for every week of school to the teachers to show in their classrooms and then have a short discussion on it. Every class who watches all the videos, the KINDNESS CART is going to visit their classroom at the end of the school year to celebrate. These videos are inspirational and during our introduction, we were able to show all the students one that focused on adaptability. Ask them about Dexter the Dog. We can all do hard things and adapt when needed.
DO UNO WE LOVE YOUR STUDENTS AND WE ARE ALWAYS HERE TO SUPPORT THEM.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
