Enriching and Strengthening Family Life Through Education and Play

The Weymouth Child Family Community Center provides support to families from birth through school age. We provide access to comprehensive services, child development information, and educational opportunities to parents and caregivers. Our playgroups and programs are designed to raise awareness on the importance of family engagement while teaching important literacy, STEM and school readiness skills. As a parent or caregiver, you are your child's first and most important teacher! We are here to support you in this role!

Weymouth CFCE Strengthens Families:

1.Each family is unique and all families represent diverse structures.

2.Diversity is expressed and experienced at multiple levels

3.Building a respectful, trusting, and reciprocal relationship is the shared responsibility

4.Families are their child’s first and best advocate.

5.Family engagement must be equitable

March Wrap Up

STEM

This month our STEM group had fun with our sink or float experiment. Ms. Ann Marie read "Who Sank the Boat." While reading the story the children were encouraged to make predictions of which animal would cause the boat to sink. During our experiment each child had the opportunity to place an animal on a small boat to see if their animal made the boat sink or float. Along with our sink and float experiment the children also used a scale to try to balance various objects.

Mindful Movements

Our Mindful Movements program has expanded to include a separate program for 4&5 year olds. In both programs the children are learning poses that increase strength, flexibility and coordination as well as breathing techniques. Each week they learn different poses to coincide with the characters in the story.

On St. Patrick's Day our Mindful Movements groups enjoyed the story "Green Shamrocks." Many of the children wore green to celebrate the holiday and enjoyed learning the various yoga poses that went along with the story. Even our littlest yogis are learning to stretch, breath and relax!

Tooth Fairy Visit

We want to thank Dentistry for Children for allowing the Tooth Fairy (Claire Riley) to visit with us and teach our families about the importance of early dental care. Each child received a goodie bag with a free toothbrush, toothpaste and stickers.
