This Week at PHS This Week at PHS

As we head into the week before Thanksgiving, it feels especially important to pause and appreciate the hard work our students have been putting in this fall. This part of the semester can be challenging, yet when we are getting into classrooms for observations we are seeing classes filled with students who are asking questions, leaning into feedback, and pushing themselves in ways that deserve recognition. Their hard work can be seen in every classroom of the building, and we are truly grateful for the effort they bring each day.

To help students make the most of that hard work, we’re also reminding them how important it is to be in class on time every period. When students arrive on time, they’re able to start strong, stay focused, and engage with the learning opportunities their teachers have prepared. It also helps maintain the smooth, predictable routines that keep our campus safe and learning on track.

This week, our administrative team will be conducting tardy sweeps to reinforce the expectation that students move with purpose during passing periods. This is meant to be a reminder that every minute of class matters, especially after the effort our students have invested throughout the fall. We want them to step into Thanksgiving break proud of the progress they’ve made and confident about the path ahead.

We are thankful for our students, each of you, and the partnership we share. Your support at home makes a tremendous difference, and together we can help every Oiler finish this stretch of the semester strong.

Prancer Excellence

Our Prancers delivered an incredible performance last week at the TDEA 2025 Fall Assessment! They earned a Division 1 rating and placed 1st overall in the advancement round—an outstanding accomplishment. Even more impressive, they achieved this while competing against 39 6A teams from across the Houston area. Their dedication, discipline, and artistry continue to make us proud.

Football

PHS Football opened the playoffs in dominant fashion, breezing past Fort Bend Travis with a decisive 59–27 victory. The offense was firing on all cylinders. Jake Westmoreland threw for 206 yards, spreading the ball with confidence and control. On the ground, Ja'Maurey Champion set the pace with 199 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Royce Swan added 139 yards and a touchdown of his own. Maddox Grant rounded out the explosive night with 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Pearland defense made a statement as well and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ed Smith and Sam Armstrong.

It was a complete team effort and an exciting way to kick off the postseason. We hope to see a huge crowd this Friday as we take on Dickinson at Challenger Columbia Field this Friday.

“Attitude of Gratitude” — A Month of Thankfulness at PHS “Attitude of Gratitude” — A Month of Thankfulness at PHS

This November, our Student Council is spreading gratitude across campus through the “Attitude of Gratitude” campaign and we’d love for both students to join in!

Throughout the month, large banners are displayed in both cafeterias where students can write messages of thanks to teachers, friends, or anyone who has made a difference in their lives. After adding a message, students are encouraged to take a photo with that person in front of the banner and share the moment of appreciation.

We invite parents to join in too—talk with your student about who they’re thankful for, or stop by during an event to snap your own picture of gratitude!

In addition, Student Council is collecting Thanksgiving dinner basket donations to show appreciation for our hardworking cafeteria, custodial, maintenance, and security staff. Ready-made desserts, drinks, and treats are especially appreciated.

Let’s make November a month filled with kindness, gratitude, and appreciation for the people who make Pearland High School feel like family.
