THANK YOU FROM ATHS
Dear Aspire Trade High School Families,
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your cooperation and understanding last week during the heightened I.C.E. activity in the Charlotte area. Your trust in us and your partnership made all the difference in keeping our students and families safe.
The way our community came together during this challenging time truly reflects the strength and resilience that defines Aspire. Thank you for responding promptly to our communications, following safety protocols, and supporting one another. Your vigilance and care for our entire school family did not go unnoticed.
At Aspire, the safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment where every student can focus on their education and future without fear. Please know that we will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you informed of any developments that may affect our school community. If you have any concerns or questions, or if your family needs additional support or resources, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here for you.
Thank you again for your partnership and for entrusting us with your students. Together, we will continue to build a strong, safe, and thriving community.
With gratitude and respect,
Jennifer Nichols
Executive Director
Aspire Trade High School
Dear Aspire Trade High School Families,
On behalf of our Student Government Association and the entire Aspire community, I want to extend a huge thank you for your incredible generosity during our recent SGA Can Food Drive!
The response from our students and families was truly overwhelming. What started as a friendly competition between grades turned into an amazing display of compassion and community spirit. Each grade brought their best effort, making this one of the closest battles we've ever seen, and together you all stepped up in a remarkable way.
Thanks to your donations, we are now able to distribute these food items to some of our Aspire families in need, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Your kindness will help ensure that members of our own school family can gather around the table and enjoy a warm meal together this season.
This drive reminded us all of what makes Aspire special – when we come together, we take care of each other. Thank you for teaching our students the importance of giving back and for showing them that even small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
We are grateful for each and every donation and for the caring hearts behind them. Wishing you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, gratitude, and togetherness..
With appreciation,
Jennifer Nichols
Executive Director
Aspire Trade High School

Notice To All Families
ICE Policy
We are writing to inform you of Aspire Trade High School’s policy regarding access to our campus by immigration enforcement officials.
Unlike traditional public schools operating on public property, Aspire Trade High School is located on privately owned property. As such, federal agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), are required to present a judicial warrant—signed by a judge and specific in its scope—in order to lawfully access our property, staff, or students. We want to assure you that no access will be granted to our facilities or to any student information until our legal counsel has reviewed and verified the validity of all documentation.
This policy is aligned with our obligations under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which protects the privacy of student education records, and with the guidance provided by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) concerning the protection and safety of students on school campuses.
Below is an excerpt from our official Parent/Student Handbook that outlines how staff are instructed to respond in such situations:
- Response Protocol for Immigration Enforcement Inquiries:
- School personnel must immediately contact the Executive Director if approached by immigration law enforcement agents.
- Staff must attempt to contact the student’s parent or guardian without delay.
- The Executive Director must take the following steps:
- Request official identification from the agents and retain a photocopy.
- Request and photocopy a judicial warrant; administrative warrants (e.g., ICE Form I-200 or I-205) do not provide lawful grounds for access.
- If no valid warrant is provided, request the basis for the visit, document the interaction, and immediately contact legal counsel.
- Document the names of any students involved and the stated reasons for the inquiry.
- Refrain from disclosing any student information, including class schedules, without legal counsel present.
- Provide agents with a copy of the school's policy and governing resolution.
- Request the agents' contact information and advise them that these steps must be completed prior to any access being granted.
We take seriously our responsibility to protect the rights and safety of all our students. Our staff is trained to follow this protocol to ensure compliance with applicable laws while upholding the dignity and privacy of every student in our care.

Driver's Education for Aspire Students
Getting your driver's license is an exciting milestone! While Aspire doesn't offer driver's education on campus, we want to make sure you know about the affordable options available to our students.
Aspire students can take driver's education through their "home" high school - that's the school you would attend based on your address if you were going to a traditional public school. Through Jordan Driving School, the official partner for public school driver's ed, the cost is just $65, which is significantly less expensive than private driving schools.
Flexible Options That Work for You
We know our students have busy schedules, so Jordan Driving School offers several options for the classroom portion of driver's education. In addition to regular school-day classes, they provide Saturday sessions, summer classes, and virtual options. This flexibility means you can complete your driver's education without worrying about schedule conflicts.
The program includes both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel driving lessons, giving you everything you need to become a safe, confident driver.
To get started, visit their website at: https://www.jordandrivingschoolcharlotte.com/index.html
Driver Certificate Of Eligibility
If your student is requesting a Certificate of Eligibility, please allow two weeks for the processing to be completed. You can request a Student Certificate of Eligibility by contacting Rob Racquer at r.racquer@aspiretradehs.org.
Please note that Same-day Certificate will not be provided.
