Rollin' Into This Week with Parent Teacher Conferences!
Hello Husky Nation!
We wrap up the Rollin' With The Huskies fundraiser tonight and ROLL TOMORROW, Monday, October 19th! Thank you so much for everything that you are doing to support the extra items here at school to make this an extra special place! We are super excited about the murals, picnic tables, and extra items for our experiences to make them even better! Remember that we will have a fast Friday schedule with lunches a little earlier than normal. This make sure that we can accommodate everyone as they ride this day. If you would like to join in on the fun, please bring your bike and check in at the office before you ride.
Parent teacher conferences begin on Tuesday, October 20 and finish up on the 23rd. Please be on the lookout for paper and emails from your advisory teacher to set up a time slot to meet and talk about the wonderful things that your child is doing here at Holt! We strive for 100% attendance during these conferences.
At these conferences, we will talk about their latest Atlas scores, as well as their level of reading that they currently are performing. Just a couple of the measures that are important to see how they are progressing from one year to the next.
We here are grateful for the many many volunteers and chaperones that make a lot of of our experiences happen! Thank you so much for willing to jump in and be a part of our learning experience here as we continue our Science Explore Experience!

Bike Train!
Monday, October 19 is our Roll-a-thon day.
We will have Bike Trains on this day!
What is a Bike Train? ...Keep reading :-)
On both days we are encouraging students to bike, scoot, or skateboard to campus. Walkers are also more than welcome to join the fun! It’s a great way to promote physical activity, practice road safety, and build community spirit across our district.
The two routes above WILL BE TEACHER SUPPORTED on the way in to school. This means that we will have at least two teachers on bikes to ride in with them at those times and locations above. The teachers will start at the beginning and simply slowly ride in with them picking up kiddos along the way.
Remember...parents are welcome to join in too!
How to Participate:
Plan Your Route: Take a few minutes to find the safest path from your home to school or join the planned routes above.
Safety First: Helmets are a must for anyone biking or rolling!
Invite a Friend: Biking and rolling are always more fun in a group.
SEE YOU ALL WEDNESDAY!
The Book Fair is Coming!

Beginning with the 2027-28 school year, Fayetteville Public Schools will adjust to new feeder patterns. A feeder pattern is the grouping of elementary schools that will attend the same middle school and junior high school. The current feeder patterns split some elementary schools, sending part of their students to one middle school and the remainder to another middle school. It also splits some middle schools when the students move up to junior high, sending some to one junior high and the remainder to another. However, the new 2027-28 feeder pattern keeps all of the students from an elementary school together as they transition to middle school and junior high without splitting them.
Beginning next school year, August of 2027, all students zoned for Holt Middle School under the new feeder pattern (Owl Creek & Holcomb) will attend John L Colbert Junior High School.
If you have a 5th grade student who currently attends Holt and you live in the Asbell or Butterfield zones, your child will be zoned to attend McNair Middle School next year.
If you have a 5th grade student who currently attends Holt and you live in the Root zone, your child will be zoned to attend Thomason Middle School next year.
If you reside in the Holcomb zone, Holt will remain your middle school.
If you currently attend Holt but are not zoned for our school, the link below provides more information on how the new feeder pattern might impact you once your child leaves Holt.
However, the district is offering a one-year-only grandfather provision to allow your student to remain at Holt for the 2027-28 school year, as long as you provide transportation to and from school. A survey regarding the grandfather option will be emailed on Monday, Oct. 19th, to those of you residing within the Asbell, Butterfield, and Root zones.
For our 6th graders who reside in the Holcomb zone, you will be assigned to John L Colbert Junior High for the 2027-28 school year.
If you are a 6th grader living in the Asbell or Butterfield zones, you will be assigned to Woodland Junior High.
Finally, if you are a 6th grader living in the Root zone, you will be assigned to Ramay Junior High.
Parents of students who are not eligible for the grandfather provision can still request an in-district transfer through the district's standard process.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Matt Morningstar
