Good Morning Parents/Guardians,

What a great week of learning at GBS! Hard as it may seem to be, we are only a week away from the February vacation!

8th Grade students started the transition process to CVHS when a group of counselors came to speak with students about registering for classes. They were very excited about the different opportunities that await them when they move down the road next year. I want to send out a special thanks to the counselors for coming down and helping to share about the amazing opportunities that await them in years to come.

On another note, next week is Spirit Week at GBS. Each day has it's own theme to guide students in their morning clothing choices.

Monday is PJ Day.

Tuesday is Sports Day.

Wednesday is Twin/Triple Day or Fabulous Duo.

Thursday is Crazy Hair or Hat Day.

Friday is School Colors.

Our student leadership has contests and Friday will be capped by our monthly assembly for students.

We hope that you have a great weekend and thanks for partnering with us as we work with your students!

Sincerely,

Adam Caragher, Principal ~ GBS

From Nurse Bernardi:

Nutrition and physical activity are crucial to a child’s development. Sleep is just as important! The amount and quality of sleep we have can affect our safety, how alert we are, as well as our memories, moods, behavior, and learning abilities. Establishing good sleep patterns can benefit the entire family. Here are some tips to help your child get the sleep their growing bodies need;

  • Limit screen time before bed- avoiding all screens for at least an hour before bedtime.
  • Getting exercise during the day- This can result in better sleep but avoid too much physical activity close to bedtime. Yoga and stretching can promote restfulness.
  • Have a routine which may include relaxing activities such as- reading, writing in a journal, meditation, a warm bath, quiet music.

Practicing a good bedtime routine can promote happy and healthy youth. It can also improve school performance!

Around the Bobcat World Around the Bobcat World

6th grade students created a forecast using their exceptional knowledge of all things weather related.

GBS 8th Graders went to CVHS for a career fair at the ATC. It is one of many events that we hold in order to help our students see what CVHS is like and begin transitioning to high school.

We also had a special guest, Sargent James, parent of one of our GBS students made an appearance to thank our 8th grade students who organized a care package in December. Students took the opportunity to ask a few questions as he recently returned from deployment.

Consolidation/Reconfiguration

As many of you are aware, the School Board has contracted an organization related to the potential consolidation and reconfiguration of the ConVal School District. Here is the link to the School Board homepage that has more information to share.
