Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break will take place from November 27- December 1. Attendance at school is so important for your child's learning. Please let your child's teacher and the office know if they will be absent.
Outdoor Apparel
As the colder weather is coming in, please remember to send your child with appropriate outdoor apparel. The wood chips on the playground can be difficult for students that don't have close-soled shoes. They will be outdoors for recess time and many students have been unprepared for cooler weather. Also, remember to label all of your child's garments with their names so that items can be returned if they get lost.
Sickness
Sickness season is in full swing! We are encouraging lots of handwashing at school. If your child is sick, contact Mrs. Bowen at 269-469-6069 to inform the office of their absence. Below are some tips for helping keep your child healthy.
We look forward to seeing everyone for STEAM Night!
BASE Updates
As the weather is changing, please remember that at BASE, we spend more time outside than at recess during the school day. Please send your child with the appropriate gear for going outdoors everyday!
1. Volleyball was a huge hit & we'd love to have help! If any parents would like to volunteer to assist Samantha with coaching on Tuesdays from 4-5 pm & they're background check approved ~ Please contact Mrs. Selby!
2. Visitor Aware: We noticed that signing your child/children out at BASE is taking a little longer than usual. The busier times are usually when the enrichments end from 5-5:30 pm - Please plan accordingly and start exiting out Door 1B (The other cafeteria door) when there is a line.
Positive Behavioral Inteventions and Supports (PBIS) in November
The word of the month for November is Gratitude
This month we will focus on teaching students how to show gratitude at school. At the end of the month, each class will have a gratitude winner that will receive a donut from Mrs. Haskins to celebrate being respectful.
No Bullying School
New Buffalo Elementary has a zero tolerance for bullying! If you believe your child is being bullied you may use the link below to report it to our staff. We encourage you to talk with your child's teacher or myself if you have concerns at any time.
