Construction Update

We have been working hard to prepare for the start of the new year. When you return you will see a school that has been undergoing a tremendous face-lift. While you will see improvements in many areas, please know our renovation project will not be complete until September of 2018. I am excited for you to get to see the building; it is beautiful, and we are only half way through the renovation.

It has been amazing to see the school be transformed before my eyes this summer. For those of you have been involved in construction before, you know that with it comes challenges and surprises; this summer has provided both of those experiences, but in the end I know we will have a beautiful newly renovated school.

Most of the first and second floor classrooms have been completely renovated with new paint, LED lighting, carpet, etc. Several new rooms have been added. The flooring in the main corridors and hallways will not be installed until next summer in order to prevent unnecessary wear on the new floors. Some of our rooms have new furniture; however the majority of the new furniture will come next year. I can't wait for you to see it!

Below you will see a few pictures to help you appreciate the scope of the work. When you see the finished product, you will be amazed.

With that being said, please exercise patience during student drop-off/pick-up times. Please be extremely cautious of your surroundings. There are many students arriving and dismissing each day around Mayde Creek. Student safety is our #1 priority so please be aware of student drivers, walkers, and bike riders around the school at all times.

Encourage your child to have all items such as: backpacks, lunches, instruments, etc. in their hands ready to quickly exit the vehicle. There will be 2 drop off lanes. Staff members and student volunteers will be out directing traffic and will let you know when you can open your doors. Our drop zone will begin at the 9th grade center. You will likely be dropping off past the main entrance. Our goal is to get students and drivers in and out of our parking lot as efficiently and safely as possible.

PAC entrance off of Dulaney Road – Please drive towards the PAC and drop your students off. Follow the road around the backside of the PAC. You will exit at Ashley Road.
