The Dawg Dispatch is our weekly snapshot of life as a Bulldawg, straight facts, clear wins, and whatβs next, so families and staff can pull in the same direction. It reflects our mission:
βThe mission of the Aberdeen School District is to inspire ALL students to become problem-solvers, lifelong learners, and productive members of society.β
Bulldawgs in Action - School Spotlight
Aberdeen Elementary Celebrates Read Across America
Aberdeen Elementary students celebrated Read Across America Week with excitement and enthusiasm as they focused on the joy and importance of literacy.
Throughout the week, students participated in activities that encouraged reading, imagination, and a love for books. The excitement on their faces said it all, moments like these remind us why promoting literacy at an early age matters so much.
It was a wonderful week of learning, laughter, and celebrating the power of reading. We are proud of our young Bulldawgs for embracing the joy of books and building strong foundations for lifelong learning.
Guest Readers Visit Aberdeen Elementary
Aberdeen Elementary recently welcomed special guest readers as part of their literacy celebrations. The guests were veterans who are also family members of students currently enrolled at AES, making the experience even more meaningful for our young readers.
Students had the opportunity to listen as these honored guests shared stories and spent time encouraging a love for reading. It was a powerful moment that connected literacy, family, and service to our country.
We are grateful to these veterans for taking the time to visit our classrooms and inspire our students. Experiences like this help show our scholars the importance of reading while also honoring those who have served.
Meet and Greet with Local Authors
We were honored to welcome Jasmine Boyd, Dena Bradford, Tammi Gathings, and Rev. Joseph Stone as guest speakers during our special Meet and Greet with Local Authors.
Students had the opportunity to hear directly from these talented writers as they shared their experiences, discussed the writing process, and encouraged students to embrace creativity and storytelling. Events like this help bring literacy to life and show our scholars that their voices and stories matter.
We are grateful to these local authors for taking the time to invest in our students and inspire the next generation of readers and writers.
Kindergarten Students Work Together to Solve Subtraction Problems
Students in Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Dyessβs Kindergarten class recently worked collaboratively to solve subtraction word problems. Each group selected an item to feature in their problem, making the activity both creative and engaging.
Students wrote their own word problems and then drew and colored pictures to show how they arrived at their answers. This hands-on approach helped them visualize subtraction while strengthening their problem-solving and communication skills.
Every student played a role in the group work, and the class enjoyed learning and working together. Activities like this build strong math foundations while encouraging teamwork and confidence in our young learners.

Both schools received ELA and Math Achievement Awards, highlighting the hard work and dedication taking place in our classrooms.
These recognitions reflect the commitment of our scholars, teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators who continue to strive for excellence every day.
