WHAT A FANTASTIC FALL !

It has been an excellent start to the school year.

Our kids and families have been exceptional!

Thank you for your patience while we learn routines and make adjustments. Our staff have been working hard to welcome all our new friends. We are fortunate that our district encourages involvement in early childhood programming.

ECFE is a program for families with children from infants to five years. Our classes are ongoing and we would love to meet your family. Big kids go to school and so can your littles! Contact Shonna Hoeper shonnah@mystma.org to find a fun class for your family! Space is limited in these classes.

All children are welcome, including siblings!

Sincerely,

Shonna Hoeper, Early Childhood Coordinator

Note from the Health Office

A Quick Note on Head Lice (nobody’s favorite topic 😅)

Head lice are common in young children and—good news—more nuisance than health risk. They love heads, not hygiene, so please know this isn’t a cleanliness issue.

What helps:

  • Do quick checks weekly, especially behind ears and at the nape of the neck. Look for tiny moving bugs or oval eggs (nits) stuck to hair.

  • Treat promptly with your preferred method (follow product directions or your pediatrician’s guidance), and comb daily for 7–10 days to remove nits.

  • Wash and toss what matters: pillowcases, hats, and hair accessories. A normal wash/dry is enough. Big deep-cleans aren’t needed.

  • Share hugs, not hats: avoid sharing combs, hair ties, headphones, and dress-up hats.

If you suspect lice—or just want help checking—contact our Health Office. We’re happy to support you, answer questions, and help keep classrooms comfortable and itch-free!

Every Meal -Weekend Meal Program

Over 300,000 Minnesota children live with food insecurity. Without consistent access to enough good food, hunger on the weekends is very real. Every Meal is changing that by providing weekend food bags directly in students’ backpacks.

Hunger affects more than just health. Beyond increased illness and developmental delays, kids can have poor academic performance, behavioral challenges, and difficulty adapting socially and emotionally. But consistent access to nourishing food can change their trajectory. When kids receive weekend food support, they’re better able to learn, grow, and thrive.

The Every Meal free weekend food enrollment form was sent home with students this fall. If you did not receive an enrollment form and want more information about signing up, please email Randee Woodis in the Albertville Primary office at randeew@mystma.org
