Central Community Newsletter June 2026
I can’t believe we are already entering the last month of this school year! Reflecting back to February 1, 2026, when I was appointed to Central Community School, it amazes me how much this community has accomplished each month. The time has truly flown by!
On behalf of the staff here at Central, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our parent community for the lovely PAC-sponsored staff appreciation luncheon last week. Our staff are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful gesture and feel so fortunate to work with your children each and every day. Thank you once again for your kindness and support.
June is a very busy and exciting month at Central. Our Grade 5 students will take part in a “Grade 6 for a Morning” experience, and we are looking forward to the Stream of Dreams initiative. Classrooms will be wrapping up units of study, and teachers will be preparing final summary of learning updates. We will also enjoy the PAC-sponsored Spring Fair, and the school will be hosting Sports Day—always a highlight! Finally, we will be having our grade 5 leaving ceremony to honour our amazing cohort of grade 5's who will be saying good bye to Central and hello middle school!
With all of this in mind, we encourage everyone to continue focusing on good routines: getting plenty of rest, arriving at school on time, and dressing appropriately as the weather warms up. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle and a hat for those sunnier days.
Looking ahead to next year, families will soon see our school supplies link go live. We will be moving to a curated list format rather than the bulk ordering system some families may be familiar with. If your family requires any support, please do not hesitate to reach out to me by email to arrange a conversation.
With that, we are looking forward to a wonderful final few weeks as we wrap up the 2025–2026 school year together.
warm regards,
Shawn

Stream of Dreams Project - June 9, 10, 11, 12 & 15
Stream of Dreams
Central is excited to partner with the Stream of Dreams initiative this year! Students will take part in a 45-minute lesson with their class, followed by a visit to the pop-up art studio in the gymnasium to paint their fish.
The finished fish will be proudly displayed along the fence on Central Avenue, starting near the front entrance of the school and extending toward Shaughnessy Street.
We are still in need of about 5–6 parent volunteers on June 15 to help mount the fish on the fence. If you are available to lend a hand, please reach out to Mr. O'Brien at sobrien@sd43.bc.ca—we would greatly appreciate your support!
Thank you to the students who have already submitted their $7.00 to help cover the cost of materials. If you haven’t had a chance yet, please visit SchoolCash Online (https://sd43.schoolcashonline.com/) or bring your $7.00 to the office.

School Supplies 2026.2027
School Supplies 2026.2027 Will be live soon
For the upcoming 2026–2027 school year, Central will be partnering with School Start Supplies. Staff members from each grade group have collaborated to create curated supply lists that will support students throughout the year while also keeping costs in mind.
Soon, families will be able to visit the website and select the grade their student will be entering. Items can be added to the cart on top of the suggested supplies list. One helpful feature is that families can customize their order by removing items they may already have or prefer to purchase elsewhere.
Once your order is placed, your student’s personalized school supply package will be delivered to the school in late August and will be ready for pickup when we return from summer break.
Kindergarten families will continue to order supplies in bulk through School Cash Online: https://sd43.schoolcashonline.com/
Grades 1–5 families will use the School Start website.
The deadline to place orders is July 31, 2026.
