New to Our AE Team
Mr. Long - Fourth-Grade Learning Support Long-Term Substitute
My name is Mr. Tyler Long, and I will be the new 4th-grade learning support teacher this year. This will be my first year teaching at AE, and I am truly looking forward to an awesome school year! I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University, where I also had the opportunity to play collegiate baseball. I currently reside in Annville and enjoy staying active through sports, coaching football and baseball, going to the gym, and golfing. I’m thrilled to be joining the staff at AE as well as working with our incredible students.

School Spotlight
It's been a busy week at AE! See below for some of the events and learning that have taken place!
Mr. Merry's fourth-grade class explored how animals use different features and senses for survival.
Our fifth-grade students met with Mr. Puglio for their first band practice!
Fifth-grade students are working to ensure they've mastered all of their facts with automaticity!
Mrs. Martin's third-grade students are spreading cheer throughout our school with random acts of kindness.
We practiced being responsible this week with bus evacuations.
Students in Mrs. Rita's and Mrs. Chinchar's fourth-grade classes learned about different types of angles.
Mrs. Popejoy's third-grade class practiced their decoding skills with a roll and read game!
Our school store opened this week! Students used the Dutchmen Dollars that they've earned to purchase toys, fancy school supplies, and experiences with staff! Thank you to all who donated to ensure that our students have a variety of items to purchase.
We had picture day!
Our Wall of Champions continues to grow. We are so proud of our students and their hard work to follow the Dutchmen Way!
Students in Mrs. Wilson's fourth-grade class learned about the effects of wind, rain, and glaciers on landforms. They created a "Grand Canyon" out of sand. They then used wind, rain, and glaciers to see what happened to the layers.
This week was the first Writer's Workshop in Mrs. Herman's sixth-grade class. They set the mood with table lamps, music, and a choice of seating and students began writing! Most students met their line length goals for a writing. Students were given several different "streets" or paths of writing from which to choose. Afterwards, students met in duos or trios to provide positive feedback about their own writing. They will be looking for diamonds next week; writing that is rare, uses voice, precise details, and emotional reactions!
Pathways for Effective Communication
Directing questions and/or concerns to the appropriate person(s) encourages greater collaboration and streamlines the process of answering questions, alleviating concerns, and ensuring that we are all “on the same page”.
