Dear NES Families,

Please make sure you have reached out to your child's teacher to schedule your individual APTT meeting in February.

Tutoring will begin in February. Due to limited resources, invitations were sent home with students who meet the criteria. We will have 30 spots available for 3rd - 5th Reading tutoring and 20 spots available for 4th and 5th Math tutoring. Students will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, so please return the tutoring form ASAP if you want your child to participate.

Our school has a goal of raising $5,500 for the American Heart Association. This money is going straight to the AHA to help those with heart disease. Letters will be sent home soon to remind students and families how they can make donations. The class in each grade level with the highest percentage of students making donations either online or in person will get to go across the street to the soccer fields with Mrs. Hackett on Friday, February 21 from 9:00-10:30. We are also looking for a dunk tank for a student incentive. If you know where we might find someone who has one to borrow or rent, please call the office.

If you are a parent of a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, please make sure you have turned in their permission slip and any required payments ASAP for field trips. If you need a new permission slip, or more information, please reach out to your child's teacher.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and we will see students back on Monday!

GOOOOO TIGERS!!!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal

Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

Did You Know?

If a student knows 10 words on the Dolch list,

they know 24% of all book words.

If a student knows 100 words on the Dolch list,

the know 50% of all book words.

If a student knows 300 words on the Dolch list,

they know 65% of all book words.

High frequency words have been a struggle for our kindergarten through 2nd grade students. You can help by reviewing these words often with your student. They should be able to read, recognize, and say the word within 3 seconds WITHOUT attempting to sound it out.

One of their grade level benchmarks is : Recognize and read with automaticity grade-level high frequency words.

Please see the list below for the High Frequency word lists included in the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
