Summer Work Matters
Summer Work Matters: Building the Austin Packers
Dear Families/Caregivers:
As your superintendent, and a proud Austin Packer graduate, I believe this: what you do every day shows up when it counts.
This summer, we’re raising the standard.
We’re launching our first Austin Packers Summer Strength & Agility Program with ETS Performance, a 9-week commitment for students entering grades 7–12, three days a week.
This isn’t just a summer option. It’s an opportunity to build habits that lead to success.
Culture Is Built Daily
Strong teams don’t happen by accident. They’re built through consistent effort, accountability, and doing things the right way, every day.
This program puts students in that environment. They’ll be coached, pushed, and supported. They’ll learn how to compete, respond to challenges, and be part of something bigger than themselves.
That’s culture. And it carries into school, into activities, and into life.
Wellness Is Part of Performance
If we want students to perform at a high level, we have to take care of the whole person.
ETS training emphasizes:
- Proper technique and safe movement
- Injury prevention and recovery habits
- Building confidence through steady improvement
- A structured, positive environment
When students feel strong and prepared, they perform better, and they stay healthier.
Performance Comes From Preparation
There’s no shortcut here. Improvement comes from doing the work, the right way, over time.
Through ETS, students will:
- Get faster and more explosive
- Build strength with proper technique
- Improve conditioning and overall readiness
- Train in a competitive, focused environment
ETS follows a clear system: teach it, train it, repeat it, so progress is real and measurable. This is the same approach used with athletes at every level.
The Environment Is Ready
We’ve also made a major investment in where this work happens.
Thanks to the Thielen Foundation, Austin High School’s weight room has been fully renovated, building on the strong foundation already in place and giving our students enhanced space and tools to train effectively.
We now have the facility, coaching, and the structure. That matters.
You Really Make The Difference
We see it every day: students do better when families/caregivers stay involved.
Ask questions. Stay connected. Encourage them to follow through.
That’s what turns a good opportunity into real growth. We’re working to set a strong standard for Austin Packers. Our role is to provide the support and opportunities; your partnership helps students rise to meet them.
