Week Twenty-five Notes
As we move through March, it has been wonderful to see so many great things happening throughout our school. Classrooms are filled with engaged learners who are asking thoughtful questions, participating in meaningful academic conversations, and working together to solve problems and push through challenges. Our students continue to show perseverance and pride in their learning each day. We are also incredibly proud of the many ways our students have represented our school beyond the classroom. Several of our talented artists were featured at the State Regional Art Show, our young scientists did a fantastic job representing us at the County Science Challenge, and our students had the exciting opportunity to participate with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. These experiences highlight the many talents and interests of our students and their teachers, and we could not be more proud of how they represented our school community. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow, learn, and shine.
With Viking Pride,

Note from Mr. Briggs
I cannot believe we are going into our last trimester! Our school year is flying by. For the remainder of the school year, our Viking Value will be “Wise Choices.” Students will focus on making thoughtful decisions each day. We will encourage everyone to pause and consider the impact of their actions before making choices. Additionally, our staff will continue to highlight examples of respect and ownership, our first two Viking Values.
Looking ahead, we will continue to reward our PBIS winners weekly, but also celebrate winners monthly who make wise choices during each month of school.
Our school continues to focus on behavior on the playground with keeping hands-to-self during play. We have seen steady numbers in office referrals for physical contact. Our staff will continue to teach and re-teach expectations both in the classroom and on the playground.
Go Vikings!

How to add money to your child's food service account:
Mental Health Matters
Elementary students need about 9–12 hours of sleep each night. When children get enough sleep, they are more likely to:
Focus better in school
Manage big feelings more easily
Solve problems and learn new skills
Simple Bedtime Tips for Families
A few small routines can make a big difference in helping children get restful sleep.
Create a consistent bedtime routine:
Brush teeth
Read a short story
Get into bed at the same time each night
Other helpful tips:
Turn off screens 60 minutes before bedtime
Keep bedtime routines calm and predictable
Use soft lighting or a night light if needed
Encourage quiet activities before bed (reading, drawing, puzzles)
A consistent routine helps children’s brains learn that it is time to relax and get ready for sleep.
Try This Question Tonight
Ask your child at bedtime:
“What was one good thing that happened today?”
Ending the day with a positive thought helps children feel calm, safe, and ready for sleep.

It is still very important to complete the free and reduced application forms in your back to school paperwork, regardless of your qualification status. This application process is essential for the district as it helps secure vital funding from the state and federal sources. Regardless of your income, please fill out this application. Thank you for your help with this matter!
