A Special Message from the Gwinnett Police Department

Gwinnett County Families,

We want to make you aware of an ongoing trend involving large gatherings of teenagers commonly referred to as “Teen Takeovers.” These gatherings are typically organized through social media and involve large groups meeting at shopping centers, parks, parking lots, or other public locations. While many attend to socialize, these events have, in some cases, led to fights, property damage, traffic disruptions, and other situations that can quickly become unsafe due to the size of the crowd and the environment.

With Spring Break approaching, this is a good time to talk with your children about making safe and responsible decisions, being aware of their surroundings, and leaving any situation that begins to feel unsafe. Encouraging teens to think ahead about how they will get home, who they are with, and what to do if a situation changes can help prevent a fun night from turning into a dangerous one.

Our goal is simply to help keep students safe and ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable Spring Break. Thank you for your continued support.
