Battle of the Bridge: Gesa Credit Union Competition

It’s time to show your Panther Pride during a friendly competition that directly gives back to our school! Starting this Friday, Wenatchee and Eastmont High Schools will face off to see who can show more school spirit through the Gesa Credit Union debit card affinity program.

From September 26 - October 3, Panther families and staff can help WHS win by signing up for the Wenatchee High School debit card through Gesa Credit Union. The winning school will get a generous cash prize from Gesa! Every sign up and swipe increases our chances of winning!

Switching to a WHS debit card with Gesa comes at no cost to you, and every swipe, tap, and purchase puts money directly back into our school! Let’s bring home the win over the Wildcats!

Gesa’s Affinity Debit Card Program has already awarded over $28,000 to Wenatchee high schools, including $7,000 for this year alone! This substantial contribution directly benefits the Associated Student Body (ASB) accounts at both Wenatchee and WestSide High School, providing crucial funds for student activities, programs, and initiatives.

Gesa Credit Union members are encouraged to show their Panther Pride by requesting a WHS debit card at any local Gesa branch. Let’s go, Panthers!

JROTC Brings Panther Pride With New Spirit Cannon

The WHS Air Force JROTC program is kicking off its fourth year with a new piece of hardware designed to ignite school spirit: a ceremonial cannon. Purchased at the end of the last school year, the new addition will be used at pep rallies, football games, and other community events. The cannon is a unique element for a high school, but it’s a perfect fit for the school's growing Air Force JROTC program.

The spirit cannon will make its first appearance at our first home football game. Come check it out once the smoke clears up and support our Panther athletes! Read more about the new addition from program director JROTC USAF SMSgt. (ret) Larry Nahalea at the link below.

RELOCATED: Football 9/26

Due to poor air quality, both the 9th-grade and Varsity football games have been relocated to Lions Field in Moses Lake this afternoon. If you have purchased a ticket via GoFan or prepurchased a Wenatchee season ticket, your tickets will be honored at the game in Moses Lake today. All events scheduled for tonight’s game have been rescheduled.

  • 9th grade bus will dismiss at 12:45, with 1pm depart

  • 2 Varsity buses will dismiss at 3:00 with 3:15 departure

  • 1 cheer/dance will leave at 5:00

  • 1 rooter bus will leave at 5:15pm

We recognize this decision is an inconvenience for our athletes and the Panther fans wanting to attend the game, and we appreciate the continued patience and flexibility as the Wenatchee Athletics team navigates the valley’s smoky conditions. The health and well-being of athletes and coaches remains our top priority.

Panther Find Success in the Face of Challenges

Wenatchee Athletics has been busy this fall, and not just bringing home wins. Smoky conditions and pool repairs have displaced many WHS teams for most of the season so far! Athletes and coaches have had to work around crowded gyms, changing locations, canceled events, and more. Despite these challenges, our athletes, coaches, and their families have shown tremendous patience and flexibility, and we appreciate the work all of you have put into helping our athletes succeed!

And speaking of success, there’s a lot to be excited about already! Congratulations to all of our Panther athletes on their hard-fought success already this season:

  • Varsity girls soccer won their match in a nailbiter at Moses Lake! The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time, and the Panthers secured victory during a shootout. Soccer is currently in 1st place 3-0 in Big 9.

  • The Varsity volleyball team swept their game against Moses Lake this week. Volleyball is currently in 1st place 3-0 in Big 9.

  • Girls slowpitch won both games in their double header at Eisenhower this week! Slowpitch is currently ranked 5th in Big 9.

  • Girls swim & dive beat Eastmont 93-89 this week! The meet at the Eastmont Aquatic Center was full of fun and team-building activities for our swimmers, including a “secret swimmer” exchange. Several swimmers competed in the 500 freestyle - an incredible 20 pool lengths! Swim is currently in 1st place 2-0 in Big 9.

  • Cross Country (XC) competed in Yakima on Thursday, where Anna Hirsch took home 1st in the 4A girls race! Allie Knoop placed 5th during the same race, and during the boys race, Sam Wagner placed 11th and Ben Newman placed 17th.

Next week is Battle of the Bridges! Here is the current schedule for athletic events versus Eastmont:

  • Tuesday 9/30: Volleyball @ 5 & 6:30 PM, WHS Main Gym
  • Wednesday 10/1: Girls Soccer @ 5 & 7 PM, Wildcat Stadium
  • Friday 10/3: Football @ 7 PM, Wildcat Stadium
