A Message from our Principal
Dear Akron Middle School Families:
As we enter the middle of the school year, it is important that your child stays focused on his/her school work. It is critical that students stay focused on their academic work in January and February as the second half of the year seems to go by very quickly. I ask for your continued assistance in helping to make your child successful. The following points are important to ensure that together, we have prepared your child to do his/her best in school
- Review your childโs homework on a nightly basis.
- Check the parent portal to view your childโs grades.
- Encourage your child to get extra help during 9th period.
- Make sure your child is in school on a regular basis.
Grade 6: Anti-bullying
Grade 7: Positive Coping Skills
Grade 8: Positive Coping Skills
Related to school safety: We cannot stress enough how important it is for families to have conversations at home with their children regarding appropriate conversations at school! Please remind your children that comments made impulsivelyโeven as a joke or out of frustrationโcan upset our school community and detract law enforcement resources from those who may truly need them. Impulsive statements or comments can carry very real consequences: law enforcement will be involved at the home, the student will face substantial disciplinary action in accordance with our Code of Conduct, and depending on the outcome of the investigation, charges could potentially be filed at the local or even federal level. Your partnership in reinforcing this message at home can really make a difference.
Thank you,
Joseph Caprio

A Message from our SRO
Happy New Year! Letโs start 2026 off prepared for the cold, Buffalo weather!
This may be the first year some of our students are driving in hazardous weather conditions, but our snow, ice, and blizzards can be difficult for even the most experienced drivers. Consider doing the following:
- Keep extra blankets, water, food, flashlight and a cell phone charger in your vehicle.
- Ensure your vehicle is has sufficient fuel and tires have adequate tread.
- Drive safely! Donโt rush to your destination. Itโs better to be late than not to arrive at all.
- Increase your following distance and slow your speed.
- Monitor the weather forecast before heading out!
- Lastly, please send your littles to school with appropriate coats/jackets, hats, gloves, and winter-wear.
Spanish Club
The next Spanish Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 6th from 3:23-4:23 in Mrs. Bergman's classroom: Rm M218. Please join us! expect to enjoy an afternoon with food, fun and friends!
