MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS COMMUNITY,
We're gearing up for an exciting Homecoming weekend filled with engaging and fun activities! Please take note of all the scheduled events and important deadlines for ticket purchases and guest forms.
A quick reminder from last year: several students missed the deadlines. If you don't have a ticket or a signed guest form, you won't be admitted to the dance. We want everyone to join in the fun, so please plan accordingly.
Let's bring the energy all week long and get as creative as possible during Spirit Week. We know Mr. Ed loves a good spirit week, and we can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Follow School Rules: All school rules from the student handbook apply at the dance.
Respectful Behavior: Students and guests must be respectful to everyone, including staff and chaperones.
Dance & PDA: No sexually explicit or provocative dancing is allowed. Please avoid excessive public displays of affection.
Substance-Free Event: The use or possession of alcohol, tobacco, or other controlled substances is strictly prohibited. Students suspected of being under the influence will be removed from the dance and may face serious consequences, including expulsion and legal action.
Guests: Only Chardon High School students and approved guests between the ages of 14-20 are allowed to attend. No 8th graders or guests over the age of 20 may attend.
Dance Boundaries: Students must stay within the designated dance areas: the front entrance by the King Kone truck, the cafeteria, the 200's bathrooms, and the gymnasium. If a student leaves these areas, they will not be allowed back in.
Leaving Early: Students can leave the dance after 9:30 PM. To leave earlier, a parent or guardian must provide authorization.
Consequences: Students who violate the Code of Conduct will receive one verbal warning. A second violation will result in being asked to leave the dance without a refund. Being removed from the dance may also impact future school dance privileges and disciplinary action.
Disclaimer:
Please note that the Homecoming events will feature fog and CO₂ water vapor machines, confetti blasters, flashing lights, and other special effects. Students who may be sensitive to these effects should plan accordingly. Get ready to show your school spirit, cheer for the court, and make Homecoming 2025 unforgettable!
Enjoy your weekend!

MORE POSITIVE FEEDBACK.....
I am the mother of one of the Cleveland Heights girls' soccer player. On Thursday, August 28th we played Chardon at home at Denison Park in Cleveland Heights. Unfortunately, my daughter tore her ACL and meniscus and fractured her femur and tibia. She is absolutely devastated as this is her senior year. She received a card and gift card in the mail from your girls' soccer team and I just wanted to email you both to let you know how much that meant to her. Sending a card and gift to a total stranger on an opposing team, shows such amazing sportsmanship and kindness. I was truly blown away at the messages that the girls and coaches wrote. I just wanted to personally acknowledge this and let you know how amazing your girls are for caring.
COFFEE CAFE
Chardon High School Coffee Café will be open each morning 7:20-9:20 AM in the cafeteria for students to purchase coffee and other drinks before starting their day.
Students can make purchases using funds loaded onto their school account (the same system used in the cafeteria).
We look forward to providing students with a warm, welcoming space to start their mornings and can’t wait to see you at Chardon's Coffee Café!
LEAF ADVISOR
The Lake Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) is a non-profit that partners with our high school, providing career, education, and financial aid advisory services to help students and families plan for the next step after graduation. LEAF's services are free to students and families. Over the course of the school year, our LEAF Advisor, Ms. Christine Jankowski, will meet with each Senior to assist with college/career/financial aid services.
Ms. Jankowski is available for individual appointments on Fridays, typically from 8:00am-1:30 pm. Sign-up for an individual appointment in the guidance area or email cjankowski@leaf-ohio.org to schedule a time. Virtual appointments are also available through our Resource Center.
The links below provide schedules and information on important topics related to helping students plan for their future through career, education, and financial aid services.
CHARDON CARE CLOSET
We are open! The Chardon Care Closet is a safe place where students can walk in and take whatever hygiene and/or school supplies they need. No questions will be asked. We want this space to be a safe, yet respectful environment for all students. If there are any issues or questions please see one of us.
The Chardon Care Closet is located in the 300’s wing where the old math office used to be / across from the kitchen(room 305). If students are not comfortable enough to just walk in you will see a request form below.
All hygiene and school supplies have been donated from the community. If you would like to donate any items please see the attached slide show for ideas and drop donations off to Megan, Kelly, or Joan. We have also created an Amazon Wish List that will be mailed directly to the school for the Care Closet. This must be documented and approved by the board so please do not just add items to our stock.
Amazon Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7WZ4F5435S2K?ref_=wl_share
A student can fill out a google form request if they are not comfortable going into the space/closet. The links have been provided on the Class Google Classroom(2026, 2027, etc) or you can find the link below:

GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
10TH GRADERS FUTURE PATHWAYS
This week, Mrs. Hillman visited 10th-grade English classes to discuss important post-high school options and graduation requirements. Students accessed resources through their Class of 2028 Google Classroom, including information on the new Academic Honors Diploma, descriptions of graduation seals, and a link to Naviance.
Students were reintroduced to Naviance, the district's college, career, and life readiness platform. They learned about its various tools for exploring personalities and career interests. During the lesson, students brainstormed and tentatively selected their postsecondary goals and began working on their resumes.
We encourage students to continue using Naviance on their own to explore potential careers, search for colleges, or simply learn more about themselves. Please take a moment to ask your student about their post-high school plans and have them show you their Naviance profile.
Mrs. Hillman will continue these lessons throughout the year. If you have any specific questions about helping your student navigate their goals for life after high school, please don't hesitate to reach out to her.
